Background
Accelerator originally had an ordinary five-character name, but came to reject ordinary life after awakening her overwhelming power. Believing that “the strongest” would always be challenged, she sought to become “invincible” so that others would stop trying to fight her. This pursuit led her into the Level 6 Shift Project, where she killed nearly ten thousand Misaka Sisters. 14
The project promised that twenty thousand planned battles would elevate her from Level 5 to Level 6. In reality, Rod reveals that the project is a cover for Aleister Crowley’s broader plan to distribute the Misaka Sisters worldwide and expand the AIM Diffusion Field. 12
Following the project's collapse and her defeat by Rod, Accelerator eventually becomes part of Rod's restructured dark-side forces. She leads Guardian, another dark-side unit operating alongside ITEM. 290
Appearance
Accelerator is a young, white-haired girl. Her appearance initially causes Rod to mistake her gender until he heals her after their battle. 15
- White hair. 13
- Pale eyes that turn crimson under intense emotion. 14
- Manifested jet-black wings during her awakened state. 14
- Later manifests White Wings, whose feathers serve as highly precise computational units. 275
- Later uses the name Suzushina Yuriko while interacting with Judgment. 33
Personality
Accelerator initially presents herself as cruel, arrogant, and contemptuous of anyone weaker than her. She toys with Misaka Sister No. 9975 rather than ending the battle immediately, mocks her attempts to flee, and treats both the clone and Misaka Mikoto as people she can kill at will. 11 12
Her self-image depends heavily on being the strongest. Rod’s ability to touch her, overpower her, and dismiss her title causes fear and humiliation she has never experienced before. 12 13 During her defeat, memories of the Misaka Sisters and her own motives resurface, exposing guilt, confusion, and rage beneath her cruelty. 14
Afterward, she remains irritable and confrontational, but no longer challenges Rod directly; she recognizes that he has grown beyond any level she can presently reach. 34 35
Her later actions reveal a far more emotionally open side. When Last Order and the Misaka Sisters are taken hostage, her determination to protect them overwhelms her former cold detachment and awakens her White Wings. 275 Despite retaining her arrogance and sharp temper, she is capable of gratitude toward Rod, although his teasing quickly provokes her anger. 135
Abilities & Skills
Vector Control
Accelerator can freely manipulate the direction of energy that comes into contact with her skin, including kinetic, thermal, and electrical energy. Her ability is supported by extraordinary computational power. 12
- Negates Misaka Mikoto’s billion-volt lightning strike without injury. 12
- Redirects a massive building thrown at her by Rod. 13
- Creates compressed-air blasts and tornadoes powerful enough to devastate multiple kilometers of cityscape. 13
- Alters gravity within a roughly hundred-meter radius during her battle with Rod. 15
- Compresses air into a twenty-meter plasma sphere exceeding 10,000°C. 14
- Cannot automatically reflect phenomena that do not conform to the physical phase’s laws, such as magic from other phases. 40
- Her power is psychologically suppressed after Rod defeats her. 17
- Her reflection can be temporarily disabled by higher-dimensional spatial-jump technology, such as the Accelerator (Einweg) module of Rod's Disce Terminal. 294
- Later neutralizes Roman Orthodox magician Oriana Thomson and prevents the Croce di Pietro ritual from being deployed in Academy City. 319
Black Wings
Accelerator’s Black Wings manifest when her fear, rage, despair, and memories of the Misaka Sisters reach a breaking point. 14
- Forms two jet-black wings behind her. 14
- Condenses the wings into a destructive black tornado. 15
- Fires black feathers in a Gatling-like barrage. 15
- Can use the wings as an all-round defensive barrier. 15
- The state is insufficient to defeat Rod and is ultimately shredded by Malevolent Shrine. 15
White Wings
Accelerator’s White Wings emerge from her desire to save Last Order and the Misaka Sisters from Isaac. Unlike her Black Wings, this state is characterized by precise calculation and purposeful control rather than destructive despair. 275
- Each feather functions as an extremely precise computational unit. 275
- Allows her to bring the battlefield under near-total computational control. 275
- Fires feathers along calculated paths that avoid hostages while striking Isaac's body. 275
- Analyzes, marks, and counters Isaac's regenerative ability. 275
- Causes her to faint from overexertion after the battle. 275
Relationships
- Rod — Defeated and psychologically traumatized Accelerator during their battle; he spared, healed, and covered her afterward. She later recognizes his overwhelming growth and avoids fighting him again. 12 17 35 Rod later enhances her power during the rescue of Last Order, enabling the awakening of her White Wings. Their later interactions remain volatile, as his teasing can turn her gratitude into anger. 135 275
- Misaka Mikoto — The original of the Misaka Sisters used in Accelerator’s experiment. Mikoto attacks Accelerator after learning the truth of the project and later confronts her over Saten Ruiko. 11 12 34
- Misaka Sisters — Victims of the Level 6 Shift Project; Accelerator killed nearly ten thousand of them in pursuit of invincibility. Their deaths haunt her during her defeat. 11 14 Her later desire to protect the Sisters, alongside Last Order, becomes the catalyst for her White Wings. 275
- Last Order — A Misaka Sister whose capture by Isaac drives Accelerator to confront the limits of her ability and awaken White Wings in order to save her. 275
- Isaac — Captures Last Order and the Misaka Sisters as hostages. Accelerator analyzes and counters his regeneration before defeating him with her White Wings. 275
- Heaven Canceller — Examines Accelerator after Rod heals her and identifies psychological trauma as the cause of her weakened ability. 17
- Shirai Kuroko — Meets Accelerator under the name Suzushina Yuriko during a Level Upper-related incident and brings her to Anti-Skill for a statement. 33
- Yomikawa Aiho — Identified by Rod as one of the few people who will eventually earn Accelerator’s trust. 21
- Guardian — Serves as the confident and arrogant Number One within Guardian, Rod's dark-side unit. 290
- Oriana Thomson — A Roman Orthodox magician whose Croce di Pietro operation Accelerator shuts down under Rod's orders. 319
Story Role / Major Arcs
Level 6 Shift Project
Accelerator begins Experiment No. 9975 by brutally hunting a Misaka Sister through District 17. Rod intervenes, heals the clone, and reveals the project’s hidden purpose. 11 12
Battle with Rod
After Rod provokes her, Accelerator attacks with compressed air, tornadoes, redirected buildings, altered gravity, and plasma. Rod overwhelms her throughout the fight, forcing her to confront fear and the emptiness of her “strongest” identity. 12 15
Her Black Wings emerge at the height of her despair. Rod defeats her with Malevolent Shrine, heals her injuries, and leaves her alive. 14 15
Aftermath and Level Upper Incident
Accelerator awakens in hospital with her body healed but her ability severely weakened by trauma. 17 Later, as Suzushina Yuriko, she assists Shirai Kuroko against a Level Upper criminal and is drawn into tension with Misaka Mikoto after Saten Ruiko collapses. 33 35
Rescue of Last Order
Isaac captures Last Order and the Misaka Sisters, forcing Accelerator to restrain her reflection ability to avoid harming the hostages. Rod freezes time and space before granting her enhanced power. Accelerator awakens White Wings, calculates a means to counter Isaac's regeneration, and defeats him before collapsing from exhaustion. 275
Guardian and Daihasei Festival
Accelerator becomes the Number One of Guardian, a dark-side unit under Rod's command. 290 During the Daihasei Festival, Rod deploys her to stop Oriana Thomson's Roman Orthodox operation.
