Background and History
Zunesha carries Zou on his back while wandering the New World seas. Centuries earlier, he committed an unspecified grave offense and was sentenced to keep walking as atonement. Neither the offense nor who imposed the sentence is revealed 559 560 571.
When Long Yi first approached, he heard Zunesha’s whisper, though Kozuki Momonosuke heard nothing. Zunesha spoke of exhaustion and his need to keep walking, but did not answer Long Yi’s questions 559. Long Yi later warned Zou’s leaders, Duke Inuarashi and Boss Nekomamushi, that Zunesha was dying and that their people needed to leave his back. He brought their spirits into Zunesha’s mental world, where they witnessed his memories and heard his warning directly 567 571.
Long Yi offered to restore Zunesha’s vitality in exchange for becoming his retainer. Zunesha accepted. Long Yi forged a covenant using his Ghost God origin, and Zunesha’s body regained muscle and grew; the space on his back doubled 580.
Appearance
Zunesha is an elephant so immense that those aboard the Maxim appeared ant-sized beside him. Before his restoration, his body was described as enormous but skeletal 559 580.
