Duen washed up and changed clothes before opening the door. Nami had been leaning against the wall outside, waiting all along.

"Come in."

After Duen spoke, Nami obediently followed him inside. From the age of ten until now, she had spent four whole years exhausting every possible method just to save a little over ten million Beli. The seven million Beli on Duen held a fatal attraction for her.

Duen took out a deck of cards from the drawer and placed it on the table. Then he shuffled them, dealt according to the most widespread rules in the world, and began playing.

Of course, he did not truly intend to play cards with Nami. It was more out of curiosity and a desire to learn about one of the original story's protagonists.

This world was three-dimensional rather than flat, and nothing unfolded exactly according to plan. A butterfly flapping its wings could trigger a storm, let alone Duen's appearance. Perhaps he would change the course of the entire world, thereby affecting every individual within it.

As Duen shuffled the cards, he casually asked, "Did you run here from that pirate ship?"

"How did you know?"

Nami was slightly surprised. Since Duen had shown no hostility, her guard had already lowered somewhat. Especially after he had tossed over those stacks of one hundred thousand Beli as casually as toilet paper, she had started to think that he might not be a bad person.

"Just a guess."

Earlier, Duen had gone up to the deck and suggested that the sailors search Arnold's ship. But when Simon returned, he reported that much of the treasure aboard the pirate ship appeared to have been cleared out, while the pirates guarding it had inexplicably fainted.

After seeing Nami, Duen had roughly understood what had happened. He continued, "So you stayed in the inner hall earlier and followed me all the way here."

"Mm." Nami answered softly, unwilling to dwell on the subject.

Given her values, she did not want the lone wolf Arnold to come aboard this cruise ship to rob and kill. But she was alone and powerless, unable to stop the pirates' evil deeds. Originally, she had planned to steal Arnold's treasure and leave, but in the end, she could not bring herself to do it. She came to a hidden spot on the luxury cruise ship, hoping to do something.

However, Duen's actions made her hide completely. Only after seeing Duen kill Arnold and claim a substantial bounty did she quietly follow him, looking for an opportunity to steal the reward. She had not expected to be caught on the spot.

And so... this conversation was triggered.

"If you want to steal things on this ship, you'd better be careful. Don't get caught."

"Who would get caught..."

Nami stuck out her tongue. Although she was only fourteen, her theft techniques were already highly skilled, all honed through years of life-and-death experience.

Duen asked, "What kind of people do you think pirates are?"

"Pirates..."

At the mention of that word, Nami's expression immediately changed. She restrained the surging emotions in her heart, then turned cold. "A bunch of scoundrels who delight in bullying and killing. What else could they be?"

"Is that so..."

Duen neither agreed nor disagreed. He had originally wanted to ask how Nami had survived all these years, but he realized it was not appropriate to discuss that topic in front of her. After all, Arlong had inflicted too much emotional trauma and psychological pressure on her, making her resent and reject all pirates.

Duen asked again, "Do you like oranges?"

"I do."

Nami answered very decisively. At the mention of oranges, her mood brightened considerably. A trace of reminiscence flickered in her eyes; she probably had not returned to Cocoyasi Village for some time.

At that moment, a crisp knock sounded outside the door. "Mr. Mengde, your dinner has arrived."

Nami panicked slightly. Instinctively, she wanted to hide, but Duen grabbed her. "Come in."

The waiter pushed open the door and slowly placed the lavish dinner on the table, one dish after another.

Duen asked the waiter, "Buddy, are there any oranges on the ship?"

"Yes, Mr. Mengde," the waiter answered respectfully as he set down the dinner.

"Bring two kilograms of oranges. Make it quick."

"Certainly. Please wait a moment."

After finishing his task, the waiter pulled the door shut and hurried away.

Nami glanced at Duen, a flash of confusion passing through her eyes. First, he had asked whether she liked oranges, and now he had specifically asked someone to bring them over...

What was he trying to do?

Nami was puzzled, but she did not ask. Although the man before her seemed fairly friendly, she did not think she could question him however she pleased...

It would be both presumptuous and passive.

The waiter returned shortly afterward with a bag of oranges in hand. He placed it on the table and left after receiving Duen's permission.

Nami did not know what Duen would do. But if he handed the oranges to her, should she eat them... or not?

In other words, should she try to please him in exchange for the Beli in his possession?

Duen set the bag of oranges aside, took out a bright orange one, and peeled it. "You said you like oranges?"

"Yes." Nami was a little nervous.

"Oh..."

Duen put a segment of orange into his mouth. "I like them too."

"Eh..." Nami froze slightly, then quickly recovered. "I-Is that so?"

"Right." Duen took another orange from the bag and held it in his palm. Looking at Nami, he seemed to intend to hand it over. "Do you..."

Seeing the orange, Nami could not help moving the hand at her waist slightly forward. "I..."

Duen said, "Do you think this orange looks good?"

"Y-Yes, it looks good..."

Nami discreetly withdrew her hand, lightly gritted her teeth, and forced those words out.

Negative Emotion Points from Nami +444...

Duen swiftly stuffed the orange back into the bag. "As long as it looks good."

Negative Emotion Points from Nami +444...

The corner of Nami's eye twitched. So you asked whether I like oranges just so you could show them to me? And why did you put it back so fast? Was I going to snatch it from you or something?

Duen's image in her heart immediately plummeted. If she had been able to defeat him, she definitely would have whacked this guy hard on the head with a stick. It was not that she absolutely had to eat oranges; what he did was just so infuriating!

Duen, however, was in quite a good mood. In less than half a day, Nami had contributed around two thousand Negative Emotion Points to him. He could draw the lottery ten more times.

Still, while he could harvest Nami's Negative Emotion Points, Duen was also afraid that going too far would backfire.

Slow and steady was the way to go. After all, the wool came from the sheep.
