Background / History
Gaia enters the Storm Rankings as a mysterious newcomer ranked ninth on the Void Rankings. He lasts two and a half minutes under the pressure of the Elf King’s stone stele, matching Augustine’s result. Xia Ming senses something unusual about him but cannot identify it 419 420.
During the competition, Gaia defeats Golden Bull and then fights Snow Princess. When she gains the upper hand, he reveals his bloodkin form and defeats her. He challenges Xia Ming next, but Xia Ming’s Lightning Profundity breaks his Dark Blood Curse and sends him out of the arena. Kuban intervenes and takes the injured Gaia away 427 432 433 434 435.
Gaia later returns as a bloodkin duke and commander. Bluebeard identifies him as the blood race’s foremost genius, born with a Blood Emperor bloodline and carrying a sealed inheritance. Gaia kills Emerald City’s lord during an earlier attack, but in a subsequent assault on the city, Xia Ming injures him and forces him to retreat 553 554 555.
At an ancient tomb near Emerald City, Gaia competes with Xia Ming for a book containing the Sun-Devouring Divine Pattern. He invokes the inheritance’s power, but Xia Ming claims the book first. Their final fight ends when Xia Ming prevents Gaia’s escape and kills him with Blazing Flames Scorch Heaven 598 615 618.

Gaia appears as a handsome, pale young man with sinisterly charming features. His bloodkin transformation makes his concealed identity unmistakable 423 432 599.

Personality
Gaia is arrogant and ruthless: he gravely injures a Level Eleven contestant after already taking the man’s identity badge, and he openly challenges stronger opponents. He is not reckless in every encounter, however; he keeps his distance from Xia Ming during the second Storm Rankings trial and retreats when later battles turn against him 423 427 555.
His defeat at the Storm Rankings becomes a lasting grievance. He regards Xia Ming as his chief rival and seeks revenge, though he can still prioritize an objective over that hatred—as he does while pursuing the Sun-Devouring book 553 615.
