The small town looked extremely tense. All sorts of Wizard formations had been activated, the people atop the castle were intensely vigilant, and the patrols wore solemn expressions. Dole even sensed the will of a level-nine Wizard descending upon the castle.
It seemed this place had enough strength to defend itself. Worthy of a great world—such a small town had level-nine power guarding it. Truly impressive.
Dole did not act rashly, nor did he linger to observe. He found a concealed spot beside the town wall, quietly standing there as he waited for dawn.
Daybreak came swiftly.
With the coming of daylight, the little town regained the bustle it had shown the previous day. Many mercenaries even arrived from afar, bought supplies in town, then bypassed it and headed upstream along the river from which Dole had come.
This was an excellent place for adventuring. It was teeming with Magic Beasts.
Dole still did not enter the town. Where there were people, there was the jianghu. He was waiting—for a chance to infiltrate legally.
Less than two hours later, the kind of vendetta killing that Dole loved to see played out before him.
Half an hour later, in a patch of forest outside town, Dole acquired a shattered body. There had originally been four corpses, but the others had all been warriors and did not suit his needs. Only one handsome male Wizard was suitable, though this fellow was not particularly strong—merely level four. That was why he had been surrounded and killed by the others!
His injuries were nearly beyond cure. His head had been severed from his body, and all four limbs had been cut off. But to Dole, none of that mattered.
