Aixi nodded. "The front lines. We'll stay there for two days, then come back. Is that all right?"
Aixi's tone was questioning, because he did not know whether Dole was willing to go to the front lines.
Elreya immediately grew interested. "What are the front lines like? I've never seen them before. How about we go together? We'll only stay a day or two. What do you think? I want to see."
Dole glanced at Elreya.
This girl truly knew neither fear nor consequence. What kind of place were the front lines? They were a meat grinder. There was no hot-blooded glory there—only corpses carpeting the ground and every manner of stench from rotting flesh. How could it possibly be a nice place?
But clearly, the girl had never experienced such things.
He suddenly shook his head. "No. You know what the front lines are like. I'm afraid that if the child goes there and gets hit by the aura of the battlefield, something unknown might happen."
Though Dole usually did not pay much attention to Monica and only occasionally came by to hold her, he had a very clear plan for Monica's future. If they went to the front lines, the powerful vitality and killing intent could easily affect Monica's future.
Aixi looked regretful, and a trace of unnaturalness flickered at the corner of his mouth. "All right, then we'll wait until the war is over."
