He entered the earth. Within the hard soil, the gruesome remains of all manner of creatures were jumbled together, forming a terrifying underground space.
A chill that seemed to rise from the depths of his heart crept into his mind. It was a feeling, but even more so, reverence.
These were all extraterrestrial creatures. Each one could stand shoulder to shoulder with gods, yet none had been a match for the master of this space. They had been devoured, digested, and turned into nutrients. It was difficult to imagine just what kind of formidable creature the master of this space had been.
Dole stood within the yellow glow, stretched out a hand, and grabbed a large handful of soil.
His hand reached out, but the soil did not budge in the slightest.
Having no choice, he adjusted the light from the little bronze mirror. Before long, he reached out again. This time, the soil he grabbed could move—but only barely.
He felt as though he were using soft grass to pry at a pile of rocks. He could not shift it at all.
So he continued adjusting the magic array.
Rather than use the magic array built into Babel Tower, he had specially crafted an alchemical device that could be adjusted at any time. Since the magic array could penetrate the soil layer, it could naturally also alter that layer to some extent. All he needed to do now was adjust the magic array until it achieved the function he wanted.
Time passed bit by bit. Who knew how long it had been when Dole finally stretched out his hand and grabbed a handful of soil back.
This time, the soil was smoothly brought over. Delighted, he placed it into the enormous storage equipment he had refined.
That storage equipment
