Ruger rubbed his chin.
He had known at first glance that this was the spell Ka Liu had prepared for his path as a Beast King Wizard. It was meant as a remedy, a way to put him back on the proper path. The Ka Liu in the diary had constantly written of his regrets, his genius, and the remedies others had devised after missing their chance to follow the Beast King path. Though the diary had never mentioned this spell, it was presumably one of those remedies.
Tugging at the increasingly silky fuzz on his chin, Ruger guessed that the Beast King Wizard path might require permanently binding a particular zero-ring spell during the Wizard Apprentice stage, or perhaps doing something else as well. Once that opportunity was missed, correcting it would be difficult, and even a successful remedy might leave one weaker.
He carefully leafed through the spellbook, then resisted the urge to continue and slowly closed it.
The book mentioned that, ordinary though this spell seemed, it was among the harder one-ring spells to master. Beyond that, there were comments unrelated to the spell itself, digressions about people's longing for the Beast King Wizard path and the improvements made to the spell over generations. Some people would even put off permanently binding a one-ring spell long after advancing, just to wait until they could master this difficult spell. And its current form was already a version countless people had worked to make easier to learn.
Ruger stroked the somewhat worn cover of the spellbook, let out a long breath, and put it away again.
The world of Wizards was progressing, and so were its spells.
When the complete version of Divine Object Art appeared in the Knowledge Temple, spells such as Blood of Loyalty would become easier.
