Chapter 331: Devotion and the Dagger
Could this thing really be an Oddity? Ruger wondered.
He had experience with them. Once an Oddity was mastered, its user could learn its name. At least, neither of the two he had mastered had been an exception. Half-Man had told him the name of one beforehand, but after it acknowledged him as its master, he could still sense its name in his heart: the Demon Dice, as though it were a mark bestowed by the world. As for the other, although he always called it the Golden Key, its actual name was Rooted Troubles. These names were fixed at the moment of their creation, not given by people.
Of course, Ruger believed that since Wizards studied gods, demons, and even elusive fate itself, they would hardly leave so-called Oddities alone. Perhaps someone in some corner of the Cavern World could create a unique Artificial Oddity. In that case, human intervention might allow them to name it.
