Ruger read with relish. This spellbook actually recorded incantations and casting gestures for the Fireball Spell, and more than one set at that. He could sense the Knowledge Temple copyist's devotion to the so-called romance of wizards. The Knowledge Temple had probably allowed him to do this partly because it did not want such things to disappear entirely.

Ruger carefully read all three incantations of varying lengths and both sets of casting gestures, finding them quite interesting.

The incantations, long and short alike, and the gestures all helped calm mental power, allowing it to empower the spell model more steadily. For the Fireball Spell, they also helped coordinate and stabilize the formation of the fireball. Ultimately, this still came down to mental power: sensing a peculiar rhythm within the incantations and gestures to bring mental power and spellcasting into harmony.

He had sneaked a couple of glances at the one-ring spell Blood of Loyalty before, but had not leafed through the rest.

This was Ruger's first real look at a one-ring spell model. Zero-ring spell models generally had around twenty nodes, whereas the one-ring Fireball Spell had a hundred and nineteen. Of course, having modified the Demon Body spell, Ruger no longer placed much importance on how many nodes a spell model had when examining a spell. His understanding now extended to other levels.

At this thought, Ruger could not help turning his attention to the spell model of the one-ring composite spell, Miserly Demonfall Spell.

A careful count revealed a hundred and fifty-nine nodes, but something still felt off. Once he entered a full meditative state, he realized those hundred and fifty-nine nodes were only the visible ones. Like the Miserly Spell, it also had hidden nodes, twenty of them in this case.
