Chapter 489: Extraordinary Experiences and Separation

The demons shifted restlessly in place. The bloody scent drifting from somewhere still out of sight ahead was a mysterious, sweet temptation to them. Only the demon lord's oppressive presence kept them obediently standing there.

Ruger swayed along convincingly, glancing around now and then. Mahama was fairly quick-witted, though perhaps he had simply been keeping his nerves stretched taut the whole way. It was exhausting work, at least mentally far more tiring than it was for Ruger. He could not sense the lord's commands to the demons at all and had to keep a close eye on those around him. Normally, being a little off would not have mattered; it was only a question of moving a step sooner or later. Unfortunately, he happened to be a mount, with a strange old demon riding on his back.

Fortunately, a hint of their destination had already come into view.

Ruger settled his mind and quietly waited, playing his part as one tiny drop of foul water swept along in the demonic tide.

Every step was an extraordinary, fascinating experience.

He enjoyed the feeling and was grateful that he had become a Wizard, able to begin exploring and experiencing this fascinating world.

Wizards were the people best suited to exploring this world. They might stare down a little stone and study it for centuries, or roam ceaselessly across the world. All of it was exploration, appreciating the world's beauty and investigating its mysteries.

Likewise, helping Mahama become a Wizard was another fascinating experience.

Ruger looked around. Fighting for a demon lord hungry for success was quite an experience too.

He could not help letting out a low chuckle.
