A shrill scream caught Ruger's attention. Someone wielding a flaming whip was struggling desperately, shattering an imp that lunged at him with a single lash—yet two similarly marked demons of comparable strength had surrounded him.
Ruger's first conclusion about this bloody land was that once they arrived here, even weak demons became bold and crazed. They no longer feared demons stronger than themselves—or rather, once those clumsy creatures could no longer rely on the little brains they had, they even cast aside their instinct for fear.
With a casual gray bullet, he helped the two-headed demon turn the situation around, then tore the demon's heart out before their eyes.
A flicker of fear passed through one of the two-headed demon's heads, but he still stayed at Ruger's side.
Ruger glanced at him and swiftly made his way across the demon battlefield, where flesh and blood flew everywhere.
