By the same logic, the four of them should have been wary of strangers as well. The wizards in the canyon, for instance, would never easily let down their guard, and generally would not come here together.
Mahama's calm and composed manner made Ruger shift his gaze toward the belt around the big man's waist.
The Monster Wolf had followed them all the way, which meant the five bound wizards had naturally come along as well. Mahama, who knew the details, had not objected or told the Monster Wolf to remain outside the cave. He must have already been confident in his preparations.
A question flashed through Ruger's mind. Could Aisijin withstand this Oddity? Would it make her fall completely asleep, unable to move at all, or would it allow a Dreamsleep Fighter's abilities to function normally, letting her act while asleep?
Ruger was not optimistic about that. After all, the Oddity stood at a very high level.
It was like a wizard cursed never to laugh for the rest of his life. As long as the Demon Dice rolled a four, he would still obediently grin.
Unless that curse was also unimaginably powerful.
Ernites made a show of looking around, searching for a flat spot where he could sleep.
Together, they found a place near the edge of the cave. No one knew how large the lake would be, so they could only stay as close to the edge as possible.
Ruger considered another possibility: perhaps no lake would appear at all, and everything they saw after falling asleep would be something within a dream, or something dreamlike. There might be an Oddity here capable of stirring the power of the Nightmare Demon World.
That was a deduction based on his own experiences.
Whether that was true or not,
