Ruger set out the Old Recliner in front of Little Cabin and settled comfortably into it.

Three days had passed since the dinner celebrating Mona's advancement.

Yet Ruger still wanted to laugh whenever he thought of that remarkable scene. Big Guy and Zorn had fairly good control of their bodies, but Varin had merely closed her eyes and shifted a little before sliding straight off her chair and under the table. Ruger had hardly dared look at her embarrassing predicament, afraid she would hold it against him, even though he had only given her an apprentice wine cup and had deliberately chosen a tall, slender, milky-white design.

As for Wizard Zorn, Ruger felt he had already gone quite far, but the veteran three-ring wizard had remained remarkably composed. After a few brief questions that day, he had said he wanted to try using it for several days in a row.

Naturally, Ruger knew that this three-ring wizard, who had already completed the process of drawing himself inward and condensing his origin point, would return. He was waiting for him, too, because the questions he had asked at the dinner table had been far too cursory. That wait had now lasted three days.

Laughter and chatter drifted over from the distance. Aisijin and the others were playing by the sea.

Ruger knew they would probably start fishing again after playing for a while. Serious Mouse and the others did not particularly care, but the two dragonborn kobolds would never pass up a chance to replenish their food supplies. For them, that was a pleasure and a source of satisfaction in itself.
