Background / History

During Gojo's confinement in the Prison Realm, Jujutsu High's upper ranks designated him an accomplice in the Shibuya Incident and permanently expelled him from the jujutsu world. The order also criminalized attempts to unseal him; the leadership treated his absence as an opportunity to consolidate power. 34 36

Gojo emerges when the Prison Realm is opened amid Xuan and Tsukumo's confrontation with Kenjaku. He immediately recognizes that Xuan differs from the version whose memories he had observed within the Prison Realm, then learns that Xuan has already purged the hostile Jujutsu High higher-ups. 90
