At the center of this temple of cuisine, Champa was sunk into a broad, plush throne, his round body nearly merging with the chair itself.
He had a catlike face and purple fur all over, looking like an enormous ball of fluff.
Champa ate with absolutely no regard for appearances, constantly grabbing food piled like small mountains beside him with both hands and stuffing it into his mouth.
Chewing sounds came one after another, and crumbs clung all over the fur around his mouth.
This was Champa, the God of Destruction of the Sixth Universe.
About three steps away from him, Vados stood quietly at attention.
She was tall and graceful, with flowing silver hair, dressed in a pristine white gown. She held a staff topped with a crystal orb.
Her gaze was calm, as still as a lake without a ripple—this was Vados, the angel of the God of Destruction.
Rather than looking at Champa's table manners, Vados tilted her head slightly, as though she were peering through the thick walls of the hall toward some distant corner of the universe.
"Lord Champa," she said softly, her voice carrying a faint, almost imperceptible rhythm, "I sense a very interesting aura."
Champa had just stuffed a roasted, fragrant bird leg bone larger than his head into his mouth. At her words, he paused, his cheeks bulging as he mumbled indistinctly, "Hm? An interesting aura? Could it be more interesting than Lava Planet's molten flame pudding or Azure Wave Realm's thousand-year ice marrow caviar?"
He took another savage bite of meat, grease dripping down his chin.
A faint smile appeared at the corner of Vados's lips, light glimmering subtly in her eyes. "It came from Planet Sadala. An extraordinary figure has appeared there. He just defeated Hit the 'Assassin' head-on, and... judging by the flow and convergence of his aura, he is integrating the power of the Sixth Universe's Saiyans, and even other races, with astonishing efficiency. This method of gathering energy is quite unusual."
Champa's ears twitched almost imperceptibly. A sharp, curious gleam flashed through his purple pupils, but it was quickly eclipsed by the multicolored glass cake before him.
He licked the frosting from his lips and snorted dismissively. "Tch, just a human. No matter how strong he is, how strong can he be? Could he possibly be stronger than a God of Destruction? What matters now is my competition with that bastard Beerus! Once my match with the Seventh Universe is over, and I win the Super Dragon Balls and make my wish, it won't be too late to take a look."
With that, he reached for a distant jug of immortal brew, mist curling around it.
"A competition with the Seventh Universe..." Vados repeated softly. Her staff lightly tapped the floor with a crisp chime. "Lord Champa, are you truly certain about this? As far as I know, Son Goku and Vegeta of the Seventh Universe have been growing at an astonishing rate under Lord Beerus's 'encouragement.' Son Goku in particular has always been able to create miracles. He is definitely not an easy opponent."
"What are you afraid of?!" Champa slammed a hand onto the low table carved from starry obsidian beside him. Cups and plates clattered, and several pastries fell to the floor.
"I have my own plan! No matter how strong the Saiyans of the Seventh Universe are, there are only those two at the top—Son Goku and Vegeta. While the average individual quality of our Sixth Universe Saiyans may not match theirs, we have numbers and great potential! As long as we 'train' them properly, we may not lose! Then the Super Dragon Balls will be mine, hahaha!"
The more Champa spoke, the more pleased he became. He was already imagining himself lording it over Beerus after winning the competition, and he could not resist grabbing another piece of cake and stuffing it into his mouth.
Vados did not argue further. She merely stood there quietly, the curve of her lips deepening.
Her gaze drifted into the distance again, this time clearly directed toward Planet Sadala.
In her mind, the aura she had sensed earlier replayed with perfect clarity—it was not merely powerful. It possessed a depth as vast as a cosmic abyss, a grandeur as blazing as a supernova eruption, and faintly entwined within it was a mysterious rhythm that even an experienced angel like her found difficult to decipher, as though it touched upon the laws of origin.
Planet Sadala, Royal Palace Hall
The grand hall was vast and magnificent. Light streamed down from the stained-glass windows high above, casting mottled patterns across the floor.
A ripple of spatial distortion passed through the air, and Chen Feng and Hit suddenly appeared on the red carpet at the center.
Chen Feng stood straight, his black combat uniform neat and sharp. A trace of calmness and keenness from the fierce battle still lingered in his eyes.
Hit stood silently half a step behind and to his side. The hem of his purple trench coat swayed slightly, and his gaze beneath the brim of his hat remained cold. Yet the assassin's aura that kept others at a distance had diminished considerably.
On both sides of the hall, burly Saiyan soldiers in standard armor stood rigidly like statues.
The moment Chen Feng appeared, those proud warriors did not hesitate. In perfect unison, they dropped to one knee, the collision of their metal armor producing a neat, resonant clang.
They lowered their heads, pressed their right fists against their left chests, and called out in loud, reverent voices, "Welcome back, Lord Chen Feng!"
There was nothing in that wave of voices but submission and fervent worship.
Chen Feng remained calm, as if he had long grown accustomed to such a reception.
He casually raised a hand, the gesture carrying unquestionable authority. "Rise."
His voice was not loud, yet it reached every soldier's ears clearly.
The soldiers rose at once, their movements perfectly synchronized. Like a receding tide, they withdrew to both sides and opened a broad passage down the middle, their eyes fixed tightly on Chen Feng's figure with fanatical devotion.
Chen Feng said nothing more and simply strode forward.
Hit followed close behind, their footsteps echoing through the silent hall.
They passed through a corridor supported by enormous stone pillars, its walls carved with ancient Saiyan epics of conquest.
Torches burned in wall sconces, their flickering flames stretching and twisting their shadows across the cold stone walls.
The guards and officials they encountered along the way all bowed in salute, and the atmosphere was heavy and solemn.
At last, they arrived beneath the raised platform holding the throne at the end of the hall.
The throne was not some vulgar thing piled with gold and jewels. It had been carved from dark cosmic metal bearing natural veins, ancient and imposing in design. Behind it, a towering screen displayed a starry sky and a giant ape totem.
Chen Feng ascended the steps with steady strides, then turned and sat upon the throne.
His eyes looked down upon Hit, who stood quietly below the steps like a solitary peak.
"Hit," Chen Feng said, his voice echoing through the hall and breaking the silence.
He used neither coercion nor command. His tone was flat, yet it carried a power that seemed to overwhelm everything.
"From today onward, you will be my right-hand man. I do not need you to call me master, nor do I need you to follow those cumbersome formalities and kneel or bow before me."
Hit raised his head slightly. Beneath the brim of his hat, his red eyes met the figure on the throne as he waited for Chen Feng to continue.
"I only need you to do one thing." Chen Feng leaned forward, resting his elbows on the throne's armrests and interlacing his fingers.
His gaze suddenly became fervent and serious, like two burning stars locking firmly onto Hit.
"What is it?" Hit's voice remained steady, devoid of emotion.
"Become stronger." Chen Feng spoke each word slowly and distinctly, every syllable striking the air like a heavy hammer. "Become stronger than you are now—stronger than you were when I defeated you just now."
