Background / History

Champa initially prioritized winning the Super Dragon Balls over investigating Chen Feng, dismissing the Saiyan king as merely a strong mortal. He intended to field Sixth Universe Saiyans against the Seventh Universe and claim the wish-granting Super Dragon Balls from Beerus. 11

He travelled with Vados to Planet Sadala to demand its strongest Saiyans for his tournament. Treating Chen Feng's court with contempt, he expected immediate obedience and reacted violently when Chen Feng insisted that the Saiyans were free citizens rather than property. 14 16 17

Champa attacked Cabba and Caulifla after being insulted, effortlessly resisting their combined assault and incapacitating them with Divine Pressure. Kale's Legendary Super Saiyan power then forced him to take her seriously: she cracked his destruction armor, endured a punch delivered at seventy percent of his strength, and landed blows that staggered him. 18 20 23

Enraged by Kale's defiance, Champa attempted to erase Planet Sadala with a planet-destroying sphere of destruction energy. The attack was restrained by an unseen force, and a second attempt dissipated harmlessly against the planet's invisible protection. 24 25

Chen Feng's arrival overturned Champa's assumptions about mortal limits. Chen Feng's presence caused Champa's divine power to recoil; even after Champa used his true God of Destruction form and later released his full battle power, Chen Feng consistently overwhelmed him. 27 28 30 31

After Vados's battle with Chen Feng, she declared that she was no longer Champa's guardian angel and left Champa's fate to Chen Feng. Chen Feng spared him but repeatedly defeated and trained him, forcing Champa to endure five days on Planet Sadala before the inter-universal tournament. 53 55 57 60

Champa ultimately proceeded with the Sixth Universe–Seventh Universe tournament, recording the Sixth Universe lineup as Frost, Cabba, Caulifla, Hit, and Chen Feng. By the tournament, he publicly praised Chen Feng as one of the finest warriors of the Sixth Universe. 75 85

Appearance

Champa is a round, plump feline deity with purple to pinkish-purple skin, a short tail, narrow purple eyes, and a catlike face. His body is often described as broad and bloated, though his full-power battle state turns him lean and heavily muscled. 11 14 15 30

Personality

Champa is gluttonous, impatient, and intensely proud of his status as a God of Destruction. He eats without regard for manners and initially considers food and his rivalry with Beerus more important than Vados's warning about Chen Feng. 11

He expects obedience from mortals and sees disrespect as an attack on divine authority. Being called a “fat cat,” struck by Kale, or challenged by Chen Feng repeatedly pushes him into uncontrolled rage. 17 23 24

Despite his arrogance, Champa is capable of fear, uncertainty, and reluctant compromise when confronted with Chen Feng's overwhelming strength. He remains stubborn even while injured, repeatedly refusing to admit defeat because of his identity as a God of Destruction. 27 53 55
