Background

Wang Xuance is a transmigrator who has lived two lives. His mother died of illness, while his father was taken by a ferocious beast during work. Left with three taels of silver, he wandered alone and spent years saving ten taels to learn martial arts at Tower Stele Martial Hall 1.

Tower Stele Martial Hall was annihilated over the remnant Profound-rank cultivation manual known as the Eightfold Heavenly Gang, which originated from the Infinite Brahma Saint Sect. Wang Xuance obtained the manual after the hall master’s illegitimate son died while fleeing with it, then became a target of the massacre’s perpetrators 1 2.

During his escape, he was beaten nearly to death by three Fetal Breath Realm cultivators. The monk Kongxing intervened, threw him away from the battle, and instructed him to take a token to Great Vajra Mountain. Kongxing was later killed after buying Wang Xuance time to escape 1.

Wang Xuance is a handsome, clear-featured youth with a martial practitioner’s defined physique. His body develops rapidly through cultivation, eventually exceeding seven chi in height, with arms described as thick as rafters 1 16.

Personality

Wang Xuance is driven above all by survival and strength. The destruction of Tower Stele Martial Hall and Kongxing’s death leave him convinced that weakness allows others to decide his fate; he trains relentlessly and seeks every viable route to advancement 3 12.

He is wary of unsolicited help and quick to suspect traps, refusing Xu Dalin and Song Damao’s hunting proposal amid reports of soldiers disappearing outside White Light City 13. He also refuses Chen Linger’s offer to join the Chen Clan despite her promise of a martial-aperture cultivation art, preferring the dangerous but independent path available through the army 14.

His caution does not prevent ruthlessness or opportunism. He agrees to assist Chen Linger’s plot against Chen Feng once her payment becomes worthwhile, and he kills hostile bandits without hesitation to obtain bounties and True Martial Qi 5 6 7.

Chen Linger’s Deals
