Cui Jianhao, Zhang Huaiyuan, and A Zheng exploit Wang Zifei's ambition to become a detective by feeding her a false claim that Pei Shao was the martial-arts-trained leader of the Five Star Street bank robbery. Eager to prove that her deductive knowledge is more than book learning, she goes to Expert Bar to investigate him. 62 63

Her first encounter with Pei Shao becomes a series of misunderstandings. She accidentally reveals that she knows his name, interprets his attention toward Castle's suspected signals as lecherous behavior, and drinks herself unconscious while trying to question him. 64 65 66 Her suspicion deepens after she sees Pei Shao climbing over the martial arts hall wall bare-chested and mistakes his unusual behavior for evidence of criminal activity. 104 105

Wang Zifei later conducts a more substantive investigation into the robbery. She discovers discrepancies between Cui Jianhao's account and archived reports, then follows the missing-gun evidence to Elderly Park. While investigating Liu Dachuan at the bank with Dongfang Yinyin, she recognizes that he knows her identity despite her forged press pass and deduces that he was connected to the robbers. 109 112

Liu kidnaps Wang Zifei and Dongfang Yinyin after their investigation draws too close to the truth. Pei Shao locates the warehouse through Castle and rescues both women.
