Taking the Field

Missiles screamed through the air, trailing long tails behind them.

Though the missile models equipped on the warships of the various nations in the joint fleet were not entirely identical, they still arrived over Cairo at roughly the same time.

Sentinel Prime raised his head and glanced at the incoming missiles in the distance, a sneer appearing on his face.

He reached out to calm the somewhat restless Autobots. "Don't move. Let the Decepticon cannon fodder deal with them."

Sentinel Prime's cooperation with Megatron had been a mutual scheme from the very beginning.

It was not difficult for him to guess what Megatron was plotting—nothing more than the Autobots or Cybertron as a whole. One's vision determined the scope of one's ambitions; Megatron's scope was still too narrow.

But Megatron would never guess what Sentinel Prime was plotting!

"You may think I'm plotting against you, Megatron, or perhaps the entire Decepticon Corps... Unfortunately, you were wrong from the very beginning..."

Muttering softly, Sentinel Prime soon turned his attention back to the missiles overhead.

He looked toward the southwest, his brows knitting slightly.

Not long ago, a team Sentinel Prime had dispatched sent him some less-than-pleasant news.

His immature-minded student—Optimus Prime—was actually still alive, and did not appear to have been injured at all.

"Even the rust caused by my Cosmic Rust Gun can be reversed? The [Matrix of Leadership] truly is remarkable..."

Optimus Prime had once presented the [Matrix of Leadership] to him, hoping Sentinel Prime would safeguard this sacred relic of Cybertronian civilization.

But Sentinel Prime had ultimately refused.

When Optimus Prime handed him the [Matrix of Leadership], he had also informed Sentinel Prime that, after repeatedly reviving large numbers of fallen Autobots, the miraculous energy within the [Matrix of Leadership] was nearly exhausted.
