Under the cover of night, Matt hesitated for a moment, then revealed a faint, bitter smile.

He briefly told her about what had happened to him.

But Chun-Li's reaction was rather strange.

"You mean the King of Killers, Fire Cloud Evil God, has gotten involved with The Hand?"

"Yes, but in my view, it's more like Fire Cloud Evil God has subdued The Hand and is secretly carrying out some kind of plan."

As he said this, Matt quickly caught the flaw in her words.

"King of Killers? Chun-Li, do you know him?"

Today had been Matt's first time meeting Fire Cloud Evil God, and he knew very little about him. Yet this woman who had suddenly appeared had immediately exposed his identity. That was far too strange.

He even used his radar senses to detect her blood flow and heartbeat, judging her reaction through them.

Sure enough, after he asked that question, Chun-Li's heartbeat sped up ever so slightly before immediately settling again.

"That's right. Part of the reason I came here was because of Fire Cloud Evil God!"

Not an enemy!

Once he confirmed that Chun-Li was not lying, Matt slightly eased his taut nerves.

"Then, Chun-Li, what exactly is your relationship with him?"

It apparently was not some secret that could not be spoken of, because Chun-Li answered quickly.

"No one knows Fire Cloud Evil God's original name.

"He came from East Country. He was an assassin with incredibly high martial arts skills, known as the invincible King of Killers, Fire Cloud Evil God.

"There are rumors that Fire Cloud Evil God was defeated in a battle by a mysterious young man who used Buddha's Palm.

"No one knows the details of that battle. It is said that the young man ultimately spared Fire Cloud Evil God's life, hoping he would turn over a new leaf and become a better person."

"But Fire Cloud Evil God did not reform. Instead, he considered it a humiliation and swore to take revenge.

"So, at the risk of almost certain death, he infiltrated the Blood Rain Demon Sect and stole the sect's forbidden book—the Blood Rain Demon Codex."

"It is said to be immensely powerful. Not only can it devour the life force of the outside world to strengthen the body, it can also prolong one's life and grant immortality."

At this point, she shook her head. "Of course, those are only rumors. After all, no one has ever seen it."

"Then you..."

Matt was puzzled.

"Hehe. My real goal is to track down a terrifying organization called Shadaloo.

"This time, I came to New York to investigate Fire Cloud Evil God only because a friend asked me to look into it while I was here."

Without explaining Shadaloo in detail, Chun-Li stopped there.

After hearing her answer, Matt pondered briefly before recounting what he had seen with his radar senses, especially the brutal scene of Fire Cloud Evil God consuming vampires.

When she heard that Fire Cloud Evil God was already practicing the Blood Rain Demon Codex, Chun-Li's face became grave.

When Matt personally described the vampires' miserable deaths, Chun-Li's entire face scrunched up.

She could not help muttering under her breath.

"This is bad. I thought it was only a legend, but it's actually real.

"Now we're in serious trouble. I heard that those who practice this technique can easily suffer a qi deviation and lose their minds, which is why the Blood Rain Demon Sect listed it as a forbidden book.

"If a madman like Fire Cloud Evil God, whose heart is filled with evil, loses control and begins slaughtering people, devouring lives everywhere, wouldn't New York be plunged into utter devastation?"

Matt's body tensed, and a shiver ran through him.

His gaze narrowed slightly as he solemnly said to Chun-Li, "Miss Chun-Li, please tell me more about Fire Cloud Evil God!"

Chun-Li raised her head and looked at Matt gravely.

"Alright."

"I'm in."

At the Bridge West Bar, Matt seriously extended his hand.

After hearing her introduction to Fire Cloud Evil God, especially after fully understanding his methods, Matt had no reason not to join the effort against him for New York's safety.

What was more, Fire Cloud Evil God commanded The Hand and possessed tremendous strength. If he were allowed to continue developing, the danger he posed would be plainly obvious.

Chun-Li smiled softly, set down her juice, and reached out to shake his hand.

At that moment, in a distant dimensional space, Li Chao watched this scene from afar.

The reason Chun-Li had been able to save Daredevil at just the right moment and appear there was entirely due to his instructions.

Li Chao had merely woven a background story for Chun-Li, yet she had voluntarily begun acting according to his script.

Everything being shown now was completely within Li Chao's calculations.

Even if the route deviated midway due to unforeseen circumstances, he could promptly correct it through the method of descending with his consciousness.

The main reason for doing this was that he was bound to draw more and more characters in the future. One or two were manageable, but once a large number of characters existed simultaneously, he did not have the energy or ability to control every character present at once.

Not only would that place an enormous mental burden on Li Chao, but as the number of characters increased, the risk of exposure would also rise sharply.

So rather than doing that, it was better to simply give them background settings and let them develop according to their own personalities.

This time was one of his experiments.

For now, it appeared to be a success.

He turned his attention to the system panel.

He was already not far from the 100,000 emotion points needed for a Silver Treasure Chest.

The main reason was that the Tony Stark incident had yet to die down, and emotion points from the aftermath were still pouring in nonstop.

Watching the number of emotion points on the panel continuously rise, Li Chao could not resist spending again and drew two more Bronze Treasure Chests.

With rhythmic music playing, Chun-Li raised her juice and clinked glasses with Matt.

"Matt, do you know any other superheroes? Ones like you?"

Just moments ago, Chun-Li had learned his name.

After taking a sip of his drink, Matt frowned and thought for a moment before nodding.

"If we tell him about this incident, then given his personality, he should join us."

"Who?"

"The Punisher."
