Background

Early life and the Hailun

Lafi came from Bissel City on East Coral Island. Her father spent heavily to obtain two magic-guiding sorcerer artifacts for her before she traveled toward the Wizard Continent 6 13.

During the voyage aboard the Hailun, Lafi established herself as one of the strongest surviving newcomers. Her artifact-assisted sorcery bound Andrew during the cabin conflict, helping overturn a bullying attempt; she immediately claimed an upper-deck cabin afterward 9. Though other apprentices initially believed she had independently mastered witchcraft, Lafi knew that her magic power could only sustain sorcery for minutes and that she could not yet cast even basic witchcraft unaided 12 13.

She became one of the five most feared casters aboard the ship, known as the Vine Caster and later one of the Five Heavenly Kings of the ocean liner. She also questioned Amlund closely when he proposed the Blood Sail Alliance, focusing on whether an alliance could survive under the ship’s rules of mutual slaughter 17.

Black Isotta and the newcomer trial

At Black Isotta Wizard Academy, Lafi retained her place among the Blood Sail Alliance’s leading members. After three years, her record in Desolate Yard and her refusal to yield to opponents placed her among the cohort’s top ten newcomers; other apprentices privately called her the Venom-Tongued Queen and Venom-Tongued Beauty 29.

Lafi confessed her feelings to Green shortly before the newcomer trial, explaining that he had become important to her when he saved her from falling into the sea aboard the Hailun 30. They began a relationship that night, and she demanded that Green belong exclusively to her 31.

During the trial, Lafi organized and led a six-person squad consisting of Green, Yorkris, Yorklianna, Binhanson, and Robin. She planned their initial survival strategy, directed the group toward secret realms, and acted as its primary long-range attacker 32 40.

When she mistook Green—disguised as a Desperate—for an enemy, Lafi launched her strongest attack and believed she had killed him. The shock of discovering his identity left her devastated; Green reassured her that he still regarded her as his lover, family, and future wife 39.

Academy war and injury

After the trial, Lafi continued as an elder of the Blood Sail Alliance and defended Green’s decision not to accept an elder’s position, refusing to let Amlund pressure him 51. She remained adventurous despite Green’s concern, pursuing ancient ruins and returning with a golden key 59.

Bibilionna later inflicted a severe injury that withered half of Lafi’s face and extended down her body. Lafi concealed her insecurity behind her usual pride, while continuing her research and attending alliance affairs without retreating from public view 72. Her appearance had been restored by the time of the Regional Academy War, although years of hardship had made her more restrained 82.

During the war, Lafi led her team through the Fallen Sacred Ruins, used life-element sorcery to locate the ruins’ center, and defended Green when Blood Sail Alliance members demanded that he join their badge-gathering campaign 76 83.

Separation, black wizardry, and reunion

More than two hundred years after Green left Black Isotta, Yorklianna told him that Lafi had become one of Hattori Mizang’s black-wizard followers and was listed for bounty hunting 269. Green and Yorklianna searched for her across multiple cities before tracing her to Bissel City 270 275.

They found Lafi operating a hidden chamber beneath the city, torturing captives to harvest despair 278. Lafi was overwhelmed by guilt and called herself an evil black wizard, but Green discovered a malignant tumor on the back of her head, confirming that Hattori Mizang had controlled her with a Mizang Worm 279.

Lafi subsequently became Bissel City’s city lord and married Green in a public ceremony. A Light Wizard sensed something abnormal in her aura during the wedding, but Green drove him away and protected Lafi’s secret 281 283.

The Mizang Worm later caused Lafi extreme pain. Green temporarily suppressed it with Green Anaconda Thread and a potion, then departed to find Hattori Mizang and seek its removal 286 287.

Legacy

Green later named his self-sealing art Lafi’s Time Recollection and Lafi’s Wonderful Moments Self-Sealing Technique, using memories and attachment to Lafi as the art’s medium 695 1744. The technique allows sealed power to erupt far beyond Green’s normal limits.

The Source of Darkness Lafi and Yellow Springs Netherworld Lafi are consciousness-based manifestations derived from Green’s memories and emotions, rather than confirmed appearances of Lafi herself 1751 1870.

Her arrogance is paired with fierce protectiveness. She repeatedly intervenes for Yorkris, Yorklianna, Green, and other Blood Sail Alliance members, even when doing so risks conflict with stronger opponents 20 38 83. As a leader, she makes practical decisions for the group rather than granting Green special treatment merely because he is her lover 44.

Lafi is also deeply vulnerable beneath her pride. She feared being abandoned during the Hailun disaster, was shaken by the thought that Green had hidden his strength from her, and later broke down under the guilt of her actions as Hattori Mizang’s controlled follower 12 39 279.
