Mysterious Gaze

Tian Buyi was not surprised by Luo Yunji's theoretical knowledge. The boundless mountain of books in his sea of consciousness alone was enough to show just how deep the little fatty's store of knowledge was.

But theory was one thing, and practice was another.

After one class, everyone on Big Bamboo Peak finally knew the shortcoming of this little prodigy of theirs.

His theoretical knowledge came in set after set, but when it came to most common sense, it was simply too tragic to look at. Those who did not know his background could use his age to give him the comment of being young and ignorant, but Tian Buyi discovered that this little disciple was extremely indifferent toward certain common knowledge in his heart; one could even say he had no concept of it at all.

Luo Yunji could even ignore everything around him, as if he did not belong to this world in the first place. Luo Yunji's concept of good and evil was very vague, or even nonexistent! That kind of indifference made Tian Buyi feel both alarmed and chilled.

Tian Buyi locked his brows tightly and carefully studied the little disciple who was answering questions, sensing the feeling on him that was different from everyone else in the room.

In a daze, he seemed to see a crystalline figure appear behind Luo Yunji, faintly visible, and what left the deepest mark in his memory was only the gaze of that misty figure. It was a gaze like an ancient well without a ripple, indifferent to everything and utterly devoid of emotion. Just meeting it for an instant made cold sweat pour out all over his body.

"Buyi! Buyi!" Calls rang out one after another, accompanied by the shaking of his arm, and Tian Buyi instantly came back to himself. He did not immediately attend to the worried look in his wife's eyes beside him, but instead fixed his gaze once more on his little disciple. This time, however, he discovered nothing at all, as if everything from before had only been his own abnormal hallucination, even a delusion!

"What happened?" Tian Buyi gathered himself and turned his head to look at his wife beside him.

"I should be the one asking you what happened!" Su Ru's face was full of worry, and the disciples were all looking at him with eyes filled with concern and unease.

"Me? What happened to me?" Tian Buyi was somewhat unable to understand the situation. He swept his gaze over the people in the room and found that aside from Luo Yunji, everyone else was looking at him with the same worried expression. Only Luo Yunji seemed to be just as confused as he was, his face full of bewilderment.

Tian Buyi reached out, wanting to pick up the teacup at the side. Only after raising his hand did he discover that it was trembling nonstop. Shocked, he realized that it was not only his hand—his whole body was shuddering!

So it turned out that the feeling of cold sweat breaking out all over his body earlier had not been an illusion. His clothes were now wet and sticky against him, unbearably uncomfortable.

"What... what happened to me just now?" Tian Buyi turned his head to look at his wife with a face full of terror and asked in a low voice.

"Your eyes suddenly went blank, your whole body kept shaking, and you were sweating so much! You didn't react when we called you, either!" Su Ru briefly explained what had just happened.

"Oh... oh! Oh! I know, it's nothing! I was just angered by this little brat! It's fine! You stay here and watch this little... boy! I'm going to change my clothes!" Tian Buyi did not wait for Su Ru to respond before he rose and left. As he walked, his steps were somewhat unsteady.

Tian Buyi returned to his room and sat blankly in a chair, his hands clenched tight, his face heavy.

All the abnormalities on Luo Yunji made it completely impossible for him to treat what he had discovered earlier as a hallucination.

Thinking about it now, had that boundless mountain of books in the sea of consciousness truly been created by his little disciple's strength alone? If not, then...

And just those mountains of books alone meant Luo Yunji should not possibly be in his current state. The lack of common sense was very capable of reflecting the problem.

"In Yunji's... sea of consciousness... there is... another existence!" Tian Buyi shot to his feet, knocking over the chair, his face full of terror!

Tian Buyi was absent-minded for the entire day, which drew Su Ru's concern. She asked him, but Tian Buyi did not tell her the reason.

In the middle of the night, Tian Buyi, who had been lying on the bed, suddenly sat up, as if he had made some kind of decision. He threw back the quilt, got up, and left.

Su Ru was startled awake. She called out several times but received no response, and chased after him with a face full of worry.

Tian Buyi wore only a set of white inner robes and went straight to Zhang Xiaofan's room, reaching out to pick up Luo Yunji, who was sleeping soundly. Zhang Xiaofan on the bed had no reaction at all and remained fast asleep.

Su Ru, who had followed him over, saw Tian Buyi's abnormal actions and was terribly alarmed. She hurried forward to stop him.

"Buyi! What are you going to do?" Su Ru's face was full of worry as she stared at Tian Buyi with wide eyes.

"I must find the answer!" Tian Buyi looked into Su Ru's eyes with his brows tightly furrowed. "Don't worry! I won't hurt Yunji!"

"But!" Su Ru had no idea what had happened. Everything had clearly still been fine during the day! Except... except for Tian Buyi's abnormal behavior in class!

"What exactly happened? Can even I not know?" She clenched her teeth, so anxious that tears were about to flow.

"Come and protect us!" After saying this, without waiting for Su Ru to show any response, he carried Luo Yunji around her and strode quickly toward the place where he usually cultivated.

Su Ru looked at the husband and little disciple before her with a face full of worry, her heart filled with anxiety.

Inside the room, the "Spirit-Concentrating Pearl" between Luo Yunji's brows shimmered with a soft, jewel-like glow.

Tian Buyi once again arrived in Luo Yunji's sea of consciousness, and seeing the scene before his eyes, his conjecture was proven even further.

Books, arranged in perfect order, were neatly piled together, forming mountains, trees, stones, and... a city?

Tian Buyi looked at the city before him, piled from books, his face full of shock. This was a world of books! Everything was formed from books!

This was a scene Tian Buyi had never seen at all, and these sights greatly shook his understanding.

Before Tian Buyi could remain shocked for long, a gaze descended upon him.

The feeling of terror Tian Buyi had felt during the day once again spread throughout his soul.

"Looking for me?" Cold, emotionless, without feeling, without ripple—this was not any voice that belonged to the world; it was a tone that did not exist in the world, suddenly ringing beside Tian Buyi's ear.
