Crabbe and Goyle had fled. Having failed to kill Silvan and with their identities exposed, they had left Hogwarts without looking back.

Presumably, once the holiday ended, neither of them would return for classes.

Silvan showed no obvious disappointment or anger at this outcome. He was very calm.

Crabbe and Goyle might not have been clever, but they were not truly stupid. If they had dared to make a move against him at Hogwarts, how could they possibly have failed to prepare an escape route in advance?

What surprised Silvan more was the Fiendfyre Curse that had come afterward.

This was not a Dark spell just anyone could learn. Like Avada Kedavra, casting Fiendfyre required intense emotion.

The mad desire to destroy everything was Fiendfyre's best fuel.

Silvan had found this in a book on Fiendfyre in the Restricted Section of the library. It also recorded how to control Fiendfyre, how to turn Muggles into Inferi, and all manner of Dark magic explicitly forbidden by the Ministry of Magic, but Silvan could not read that part.

Not because of any magical restriction, but because Madam Pince, the librarian, was standing right beside him, her eyes fixed on his every movement.

The moment Silvan's fingers moved, she shouted, "The Headmaster only allowed you to read pages 156 and 157 of this book. You can't turn any further, or I'll throw you out!"

"Don't be nervous, Madam Pince. Of course I know what I'm supposed to read." Silvan's fingers stopped in midair before quietly lowering again.

Madam Pince seemed somewhat disappointed.

If Silvan had refused to heed her warning, she would have been able to throw him out as a matter of course.
