Hogwarts's dungeons lay in the deepest part of the castle, even farther down than the Slytherin common room. It was a vast, empty chamber surrounded by cold blue-gray stone walls.
If there had been windows, Silvan thought he might have been able to see the bottom of the Black Lake—perhaps even the merfolk tribe they had encountered during the Triwizard Tournament.
Unfortunately, there was not a single window.
Silvan waved his wand and lit the wall sconces. Dim yellow flames immediately drove away the surrounding darkness.
"Nox—"
Silvan extinguished Lumos and turned his head. "Get in here, quickly. We only have one night, so stop dawdling!"
Then came the sound of something being dragged from the dungeon entrance. Malfoy stumbled into the firelight, panting heavily, and dragged the petrified Alecto Carrow in after him.
"Sometimes I seriously wonder whether you're even a wizard, Malfoy." Silvan frowned. "Couldn't you have conjured a stretcher and carried her with magic?"
"Ah, I forgot," Malfoy said casually, though anyone could hear the perfunctory tone in his voice.
Of course, Malfoy had not really forgotten. He had done it on purpose.
In fact, a month ago, Alecto Carrow had dragged him in exactly the same way from the entrance of his family manor all the way to the foyer.
Her reason was that her brother, Amicus Carrow, had been killed by the Order of the Phoenix, while Malfoy had come through unscathed. She was unhappy about it.
It was a ridiculous reason, yet no one present had stopped her.
And he had every reason to believe that if the Malfoy family had not still been able to provide heaps of Galleons, he might have suffered far worse than being dragged around.
Now that he finally had a chance for revenge, how could he let Alecto
