Chapter 796: Brave Neville
In the Gryffindor Common Room, the sudden sound instantly drove away Harry's drowsiness, snapping him fully awake as he instinctively raised his wand.
But the next second, a hand landed on his arm.
"Don't be nervous, Harry. Look carefully—who do you think they are?"
Silvan's voice brought Harry back to himself, and he looked toward the source of the sound.
It was Ginny and Neville. They had come back, and now stood before the passageway, staring at them with delighted expressions.
Neither of them minded Harry's reaction just now, and both ran over at once.
"I knew you'd come! I knew it, Harry!" Neville looked even more excited than Ginny, his face flushed red.
"You—" Harry froze for a moment. "Didn't you just go have breakfast? And at this hour, shouldn't you be in class?"
"I don't want to attend that old hag Carrow's lessons. She'd rather we didn't show up anyway." Neville waved a hand dismissively. "It's fine. At worst, we'll get detention again. We're used to it."
Silvan could not help pursing his lips.
Neville made it sound simple, but every time they got detention, Silvan had to find Professor Flitwick and cast a Memory Charm and Confundus Charm on Carrow. Neville's carefree attitude was built entirely on Silvan carrying the burden for him. It was exhausting.
"So you came back because you didn't want to attend Defense Against the Dark Arts?"
"Of course not." Ginny shook her head. "Because someone saw you."
"Who?"
"Seamus," Neville continued. "While we were having breakfast, he happened to mention that he thought he saw your shoes, but they vanished again in the blink of an eye."
