Chapter 803: A Remarkable Understanding

"Listen, you little bastards, this is a pub, not a train station!"

Late at night, Aberforth had been woken up and glared furiously at the group emerging from the passageway, his face flushed red.

It was understandable, though. Anyone would be in a foul mood if they were woken from a sound sleep, especially someone who had never been particularly mild-tempered.

"Don't say that, Aberforth. We're here on important business this time." Fred crawled out of the opening, then turned and gave Hermione a hand.

"But what surprises me even more is that you don't know about tonight's operation."

"What am I supposed to know?" Aberforth sounded even more impatient.

"Of course—" Fred began, then abruptly stopped and shook his head. "Oh, no, nothing."

He gave Aberforth a wary look and slowly backed away, placing himself in front of the others.

Something was wrong. Aberforth was the headmaster's brother and an important link between Hogwarts and the outside world. Logically, he should have known about this operation, yet he knew nothing about it.

That was far from normal.

Had the Death Eaters discovered this hideout?

Fred grew increasingly tense, though his face remained outwardly calm.

His disguise was convincing, but how could it fool Aberforth, another member of the Dumbledore family? Watching Fred, Aberforth quickly guessed what was going on.

"Idiot!" He shot Fred a merciless glare. "Do you think Ariana would bring you to meet a fake me?"

"Stay vigilant at all times—that's what Mad-Eye always said." Fred smiled, apparently not embarrassed in the slightest. "Besides, tonight is a critical moment in our war against the Death Eaters. There's nothing wrong with being careful."

"Hmph." Aberforth snorted, seemingly displeased by the mention of Mad-Eye, but then he caught the latter half of Fred's words.
