Inside the Reincarnation Temple, the Reincarnation Demon God jolted awake from a long slumber.
The Dao Wheel behind him appeared on its own. The Daos of Reincarnation and the World circled upon it, but the World Dao suddenly trembled for no apparent reason.
The Reincarnation Demon God frowned and closed his eyes to investigate.
A long while later, he opened them, his brow still furrowed.

As he puzzled over it, the Fate Demon God's voice sounded outside the Reincarnation Temple.
"Reincarnation, open up. I have something important to discuss with you."
The Reincarnation Demon God froze, surprised.
That proud bastard, the Fate Demon God, rarely bothered with anyone besides Shichen and Karma. Why had he come to him of his own accord?
He gave it no more thought. He quickly withdrew his Dao Wheel and waved away the temple's Barrier.
The doors opened, and the Fate Demon God strode in, brow furrowed and expression grave.
"Fate? What's with that look? What do you want with me? Don't tell me Shichen beat you up." The Reincarnation Demon God rose and looked him over.
The Fate Demon God ignored the jab. He swept his gaze around the hall, then raised a hand.
The vast River of Fate emerged from the void. Its waters surged around them, cutting off all prying eyes and ears.
The Reincarnation Demon God was baffled by the sudden move.
"What are you—"
"Taking precautions so no one can overhear us," the Fate Demon God interrupted, his voice grave.
