Background / History

Mingyuan was born in Chaos after Shichen and Yang Mei. Upon awakening, his Fate Origin Bead sent threads of fate toward dormant Demon God eggs as well as Shichen and Yang Mei, and he declared that all things lay within fate. Both targets severed their threads, triggering Mingyuan's first conflict with them 2 3.

After Shichen attacked him under the Great Dao's prohibition on life-and-death battles, Yang Mei immobilized and beat him as well. Mingyuan was left humiliated despite being one of the highest-ranked Demon Gods, and swore revenge against Shichen 4.

The Great Dao later established him as the fourth-ranked member of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods, below Time, Strength, and Space and above Karma 12. During the crisis caused by Chaos's degraded origin, he attended Shichen's gatherings and accepted that Shichen's plan was Chaos's best chance of survival, even if he would not call it faith 14 15.

Mingyuan entered the Chaos Realm after drawing on the origin generated by the Primordial World's creation and his comprehension of Dao-body evolution. He regarded this breakthrough as finally narrowing the distance between himself and Shichen 20.

When Shichen and Pangu departed Hundun, Karma proposed replacing the Primordial World's Dao imprint with Fate and Karma. Mingyuan initially objected because their profound Daos would hinder the world's cultivators, but ambition for the First Demon God's throne led him to agree publicly while secretly preparing his own scheme 30.

He covertly informed Shichen of Karma's plan through the River of Fate. Mingyuan then feigned cooperation with Karma during the attack on the Primordial World, laid a Fate Dao Net to prevent Karma's escape, and helped Shichen's avatar trap him. Mingyuan stated that he wanted to surpass Shichen fairly, while protecting the Primordial World as Chaos's shared hope 32 33.

During the Chaos Demon Gods' conquest of another universe, Mingyuan discovered Karma secretly siphoning origin from the worlds conquered by other Demon Gods. He attached an altered fate thread to Karma's laws, allowing himself to take twenty percent of Karma's illicit proceeds without detection. Karma later discovered that Mingyuan had also stolen origin from him and Creation, leading to another large-scale brawl among the Demon Gods 52 56.

When Shichen's divinity overwhelmed him after his breakthrough to the sixth heaven of the Chaos Realm, Mingyuan recognized Shichen's alarming resemblance to the Great Dao. He attempted to examine possible outcomes through Fate, but Shichen's combined Time and Space power obscured every branch of fate from him 66 69.

Mingyuan later joined Karma, the World Demon God, and the Demon God of Deception in exposing the impostor posing as Yang Mei. He and Karma established a Fate-Karma Dao Net around the false Space Demon God, then fought alongside their companions when the impostor attempted to escape 134 136.

After the Chaos Dao Court's establishment and the later conflicts with the systems, Mingyuan became concerned by a concealed fate trajectory in which more than half of the Chaos Demon Gods appeared to dissolve into the Dao. Trusting that Shichen was unlikely to be responsible, he sought Reincarnation Demon God's assistance in secretly investigating whether the Great Dao or the sealed God of Systems was behind the future 106 164.

Reincarnation's deductions later revealed three possible outcomes, including a red-eyed figure transforming more than a thousand Demon Gods into the Dao to refine their origins and create a new generation of Demon Gods. Mingyuan was disturbed when the deductions pointed to a threat originating within Chaos, but continued to reject the possibility that Shichen himself was the culprit 171.

When Shichen admitted that he had severed the future timeline, Mingyuan initially believed Shichen was responsible for the disaster. Shichen clarified that he had cut off the timeline to prevent it from occurring and that he and Yang Mei suspected the World Demon God was connected to the God of Systems' contingency 172.

Within Shichen's Illusory Chaos World, Mingyuan became the World Demon God's final obstacle in her attempt to enter the top four of the rankings. Though she possessed Chaos Realm Fourth Heaven cultivation and hundreds of fused Great Dao laws, he defeated her with the Fate Dao, stopping her at fifth place and exposing her intention to refine the Three Thousand Great Daos into a new world 186 187.

When the God of Systems later possessed the World Demon God, Mingyuan joined Shichen, Pangu, Yang Mei, and Karma in sealing every route of escape. He accepted Karma's proposal to suppress rather than kill the fused enemy, allowing the invader's consciousness to be cleansed without deliberately destroying World 191.

Mingyuan is proud, competitive, and intensely protective of his standing. His earliest action was to impose Fate's authority on fellow Demon Gods, and his rivalry with Shichen remains tied to his desire for the First Demon God's position 2 30 33.

Despite his arrogance, he is cautious rather than reckless. He refused Karma's attempt to provoke him into confronting Pangu, recognized the dangers of directly attacking the Primordial World, and saw through Karma's manipulation before ultimately turning it back on him 10 30 33.

He has a combative but familiar relationship with Karma. Their frequent bickering masks mutual awareness of each other's cunning, and Mingyuan is willing to retaliate in kind when Karma tries to exploit him 12 41 52.

Mingyuan's desire to replace Shichen as the First Demon God does not prevent him from trusting Shichen in crises that threaten Chaos itself. He contributed a Dao trace to strengthen Shichen against the God of Systems, reluctantly travelled with Karma to explore other universes, and privately hoped that Shichen was not responsible for the ominous future he uncovered 116 117 164.

Mingyuan's confidence in Fate's supremacy is matched by a pragmatic understanding of Dao hierarchy. During the Illusory Realm Ranking Battle, he dismissed the World Demon God's superior cultivation and multitude of laws as insufficient to overcome the rank and quality of the supreme Fate Dao 186 187.

Although Reincarnation's deductions briefly made Shichen appear suspicious, Mingyuan refused to accept that conclusion without proof.
