Background / History

Mingyuan was born in Chaos after Shichen and Yang Mei. Upon awakening, his Fate Origin Bead sent threads of fate toward dormant Demon God eggs as well as Shichen and Yang Mei, and he declared that all things lay within fate. Both targets severed their threads, triggering Mingyuan's first conflict with them 2 3.

After Shichen attacked him under the Great Dao's prohibition on life-and-death battles, Yang Mei immobilized and beat him as well. Mingyuan was left humiliated despite being one of the highest-ranked Demon Gods, and swore revenge against Shichen 4.

The Great Dao later established him as the fourth-ranked member of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods, below Time, Strength, and Space and above Karma 12. During the crisis caused by Chaos's degraded origin, he attended Shichen's gatherings and accepted that Shichen's plan was Chaos's best chance of survival, even if he would not call it faith 14 15.

When Shichen and Pangu departed Hundun, Karma proposed replacing the Primordial World's Dao imprint with Fate and Karma. Mingyuan initially objected because their profound Daos would hinder the world's cultivators, but ambition for the First Demon God's throne led him to agree publicly while secretly preparing his own scheme 30.

He covertly informed Shichen of Karma's plan through the River of Fate. Mingyuan then feigned cooperation with Karma during the attack on the Primordial World, laid a Fate Dao Net to prevent Karma's escape, and helped Shichen's avatar trap him. Mingyuan stated that he wanted to surpass Shichen fairly, while protecting the Primordial World as Chaos's shared hope 32 33.

Personality

Mingyuan is proud, competitive, and intensely protective of his standing. His earliest action was to impose Fate's authority on fellow Demon Gods, and his rivalry with Shichen remains tied to his desire for the First Demon God's position 2 30 33.

Despite his arrogance, he is cautious rather than reckless. He refused Karma's attempt to provoke him into confronting Pangu, recognized the dangers of directly attacking the Primordial World, and saw through Karma's manipulation before ultimately turning it back on him 10 30 33.

He has a combative but familiar relationship with Karma. Their frequent bickering masks mutual awareness of each other's cunning, and Mingyuan is willing to retaliate in kind when Karma tries to exploit him 12 41 52.
