Shichen's gaze turned icy as the Law of Time stirred at his fingertips.
Since the threads of Fate had wrapped around him, they had left behind coordinates in the River of Time.
The Law of Time condensed into an invisible blade at his fingertips. With one slash, the threads of Fate broke in the middle. Time at the severed ends abruptly accelerated, as though thrown into an accelerator running thousands upon thousands of times faster, and in the blink of an eye, they decayed and vanished.
At the same time, Yang Mei at the other end directly used the Dao of Space to sever the threads of Fate as well.
From the other end of Hundun came the Fate Demon God's furious roar:
"Shichen! Yang Mei! How dare you sever Fate!"
Before the roar faded, a figure in azure robes had already shattered through time and appeared out of thin air in the void above him.
"So you're the one called the Fate Demon God."
The voice was mild, yet it boomed beside his ears like thunder. Mingyuan shuddered and abruptly looked up.
Shichen stood in midair with his hands behind his back, his azure robe billowing as streams of time flickered around him. He looked down at Mingyuan from above, his deep-pool-like eyes utterly calm.
Mingyuan's brows instantly drew together, shock and suspicion filling his heart. "Shichen? Hundun is boundless. Even a Demon God's divine sense cannot reach ten thousand miles. How did you locate me so precisely?"
Shichen smiled and raised the severed thread of Fate in his hand, idly twirling it around his fingers.
"Didn't you hand me the thread yourself?"
"Damn it!"
Mingyuan's expression darkened. He realized that, in his eagerness to establish his might just after being born, he had exposed his position while spreading the threads of Fate.
He forced himself to raise his voice.
"Shichen, what do you want? The Dao of Fate governs the trajectories of all things. This is my Dao. I cannot stop."
Shichen did not answer. He merely watched him in silence.
A question hung in his mind: where exactly was the Great Dao's bottom line when it came to Chaos Demon Gods?
The Heaven-Opening Calamity would slaughter the Demon Gods because Hundun's origin was insufficient. But what about now?
He would verify the answer himself.
In the next instant, the Dao of Time around him erupted.
Azure divine light shot into the heavens, and the surging chaos energy around them instantly froze. Shichen raised a hand and struck out with his palm. The power of time condensed into a gigantic palm that covered the sky, carrying the might to erase everything as it came crashing down upon Mingyuan.
He showed no mercy. This was a genuine killing move.
Mingyuan's pupils contracted sharply.
He had assumed Shichen would at most rebuke him or exchange a few moves with him. They had all been born of the Great Dao, the three thousand Demon Gods sharing the same origin like brothers. Who would try to kill another the moment they met?
"Shichen! You're serious?!"
He had only been born moments ago and possessed merely the fifth level of the Primordial Unity Realm. Suppressed by the Law of Time at the Heavenly Dao Realm, he could barely move. He could only watch helplessly as the giant palm descended, the shadow of death instantly enveloping his entire body.
Just as the giant palm was about to touch Mingyuan's head,
an incomparably supreme aura suddenly swept across all of Hundun.
The giant palm instantly dissipated. The rampaging Law of Time receded like a tide, and even the churning chaos energy returned to calm, as though the killing move had never existed.
High above Hundun, that familiar enormous eye slowly emerged.
Its cold, emotionless gaze swept over the two of them, and a boundless Dao voice descended with a boom, resounding through every inch of Hundun:
"Hundun has only just opened. Life-and-death battles are forbidden."
Shichen lowered his eyes, and the question in his heart was answered.
As expected. The Great Dao wanted all three thousand Demon Gods to be born in full, to complete Hundun's system together. It would never allow Demon Gods to perish so early.
The Eye of the Great Dao slowly turned, finally lingering on Shichen for several breaths.
Its meaning was obvious: Hundun had only just been born, and only three Demon Gods had emerged, yet he already wanted to cause trouble? Behave, or it would deal with him.
Shichen rubbed his nose, a trace of awkwardness appearing on his face for once.
The next second, the giant eye closed and vanished back into the depths of Hundun. The supreme pressure that had made even one's true spirit tremble disappeared with it.
"Whew..."
Shichen let out a long breath.
The Great Dao's pressure was simply too terrifying. It felt like an ant looking up at the sky. An ant could never imagine just how vast the sky was.
Before It, even the Heavenly Dao Realm was no different from an ant.
"Hahaha!"
Mingyuan froze for a moment, then burst into laughter. The pallor that had drained from his face instantly faded, and his back straightened several degrees.
"Shichen! The Great Dao forbids life-and-death battles! What can you possibly do to me? With the Great Dao protecting me, you can't touch me!"
He had truly been terrified just now, thinking that he would return to the Great Dao's embrace the moment after his birth. Yet the situation had suddenly reversed, and he immediately became arrogant again.
"You seem very happy."
Shichen turned around, looked at Mingyuan's smug face, and sneered.
"The Great Dao said life-and-death battles are forbidden. It never said... I couldn't beat you up."
Mingyuan's smile froze on his face.
"Shichen... you..."
Before he could finish, the Law of Time spread out once more.
This time, there was no earth-shattering killing move. Mingyuan merely felt the flow of time around him stagnate. His body completely ceased to obey him, his limbs seeming bound by invisible chains as he stood rooted in place, unable to move.
He watched helplessly as Shichen raised his hand, a fist rapidly enlarging in his field of vision.
"Shichen... how dare you! I am the Fate Demon God!"
Slap!
The crisp sound rang especially clearly through the empty Hundun.
"I'm not done with you!"
"Y-you can't hit my face!"
His screams mingled with the sounds of slaps, drifting far into the distance.
