Background / History

Yang Mei was born 200 Chaos epochs after Shichen. Upon declaring himself the master of the Dao of Space, his Space Origin Bead rose over Chaos and established space as a measurable concept within the previously shapeless void. 2

When the newly born Fate Demon God, Mingyuan, attempted to bind Yang Mei and Shichen with fate threads, Yang Mei severed his own thread through the Dao of Space. He later froze the surrounding space, immobilized Mingyuan, and beat him in retaliation. 3 4

Over thousands of Chaos epochs, Yang Mei and Shichen regularly discussed the Dao and became close friends. The two recognized that the birth of increasing numbers of Demon Gods was draining Chaos Origin and contributing to the approaching calamity tribulation. 4 5

Yang Mei participated in the preparations for the Heaven-Opening Calamity. Alongside Shichen and Pangu, he helped forge the Pseudo-Pangu Axe, Pseudo-Creation Jade Butterfly, and Pseudo-Chaos Green Lotus to distribute the burden of opening the heavens. 16

After the Primordial World was created, Yang Mei secretly sent an Eighth-Heaven Hunyuan Dao Body into it, intending to secure a position in the new world's future. 18

His Primordial World Dao Body later resided on a hidden island with Shichen's Dao Body. It guided Zhulong's cultivation to the peak of the Primordial Chaos Golden Immortal realm and eventually took control of a system attached to Duobao in order to promote the Universal Cosmos cultivation method. 40 71 93

Following the formation of the Chaos Dao Court, Yang Mei became recognized as its Third Dao Venerable and commonly secluded himself within Infinite Space. Together with Shichen, he later activated a spacetime barrier around five universes and moved them toward the Primordial World, enabling their integration under the Dao Court's jurisdiction. 115 129 141

After recovering from the loss of half his Space Origin, Yang Mei left Infinite Space to accelerate the Chaos World's recovery. He directed the Disaster Demon God to intensify the Investiture of the Gods Calamity, warned Heavenly Dao Shichen against attempting to seize authority over the Primordial World, and began collecting universes scattered throughout the Chaos Void. 169

Yang Mei eventually gathered innumerable universes in his palm and arranged them around the Primordial World as the Cosmic Sea. He created a hierarchical system of higher and lower worlds, embedded Space Dao Marks throughout it, opened ascension passages for its inhabitants, and used potential inheritors of his Dao to gather fortune and increase the Origin Weight of the connected worlds. 170

He personally granted Haotian the true inheritance of the Dao of Space, promising him fortune and protection before immediately punishing his arrogance with a Space Divine Whip. The Space Dao imprints Yang Mei had spread through the myriad worlds later restored part of his damaged Great Dao origin. 170 185

When Shichen placed the World Demon God inside an Illusory Chaos World to examine the effects of Dao Mist and the God of Systems' hidden scheme, Yang Mei remained outside the illusion with him. Although he supported Shichen's goal of awakening the World Demon God, he repeatedly questioned the danger of allowing her Origin Core and Dao Heart to become permanently obscured. 185 186

Yang Mei later restrained Shichen from prematurely intervening after the corrupted World Demon God began sacrificing her subordinate Demon Gods. He argued that they should continue observing until the Dao Mist had eroded at least half of her Dao Heart, even as Shichen prepared to save the Star Demon God from her attack. 188

As Shichen prepared dangerous plans involving the division of his Dao bodies, Yang Mei offered his natal Space Willow as a vessel to nurture a supreme Dao Body despite the severe damage this would inflict upon his own Great Dao foundation. He subsequently promised to accompany Shichen even should the heavens collapse and the Dao be destroyed, and again offered to sacrifice his Space Willow or ninety-nine percent of his restored Great Dao origin to suppress Shichen's divinity if necessary. 211 212 214

Personality

Yang Mei is teasing, unhurried, and fond of watching conflicts rather than joining them. When Pangu challenged Shichen's position as the First Demon God, Yang Mei declined to interfere and chose to enjoy the spectacle with a cup of wine. 10

Despite this detached manner, he is deeply loyal to Shichen and Pangu. He accepted responsibility for the Primordial World's defense after their departure, sacrificed a major portion of his Space Origin to obtain protection for it, and later gave Shichen his Space Dao markings and Heart of Space to support the perfection of the Primordial World's Heavenly Dao. 30 31 56

Yang Mei values a peaceful, united Chaos World. He was reluctant to use the Great Dao Prohibition Decree against Fate and Karma because he still regarded them as fellow Demon Gods, even in the middle of their civil war. 33 56

His habitual idleness conceals considerable pride and resolve. He secretly learned the Dao of Time from Shichen, refusing to accept that Space should lag behind Time, and proved willing to fight opponents above his realm. 140

Although he prefers isolation, wine, and inaction, Yang Mei is willing to take initiative when he believes the Chaos World requires it.
