Momonga recalled that companion who had quit the game, knowing well in his heart that all good things must come to an end.
However, it was clearly not the time for them to part ways just yet, and as such, he was left with only one choice. Despite lingering hesitation, he stood up and spoke.
"I understand. If there is no more suitable candidate, then I am willing to take on the role."
The moment Momonga finished speaking, the gazes of everyone in the hall converged upon him. Yet, these intense stares still made him feel somewhat embarrassed.
Seeing this, he even considered retracting his words, but his mouth moved faster than his brain.
"O-of course, on the condition that everyone assists me."
Following this, the hall fell into a deep silence once more, save for Mu Fengyu, who was busy distributing party poppers with Siyou Qilong, looking as if he were ready to pop champagne mid-event.
Seeing that no one had any objections, Momonga continued:
"T-then, although I am still quite unreliable and might bring trouble to you all, I will take on the position of guild leader. I look forward to working with you all."
Having said that, Momonga bowed deeply to the companions present. Immediately after, the sound of party poppers and cheers instantly filled the hall.
Momonga lifted his head, looking at the jubilant crowd, and felt the weight of responsibility growing heavier in his heart. He understood deeply that from this moment on, he carried the future of the entire guild on his shoulders.
Once the cheering subsided slightly, Momonga cleared his throat and said.
"As the incoming leader, I will ask directly: how shall we decide on the guild's name? Should I come up with one?"
Since the first question from their new leader was about naming, although they couldn't see expressions within the game, it was obvious that black lines of exasperation were forming on every member's face.
At this moment, Bukubukuchagama stood up and said awkwardly.
"This... perhaps we shouldn't trouble you with that. You've spent too much time with Mu Fengyu, and we're worried you might have picked up his bizarre naming sense."
As soon as she finished speaking, the other companions expressed their agreement, while Mu Fengyu curled his lip and said with dissatisfaction:
"What is that supposed to mean? I think the names I come up with are super awesome. Right, Siyou? The Heavenly Slayer Soaring Seven Emperor Sebadragon."
"Y-yes, the names the captain comes up with are very imposing."
"See? Even little Siyou thinks so."
"Right, I firmly support all of the captain's statements."
Siyou Qilong wiped away non-existent sweat and silently took two steps back. Everyone else had black lines across their foreheads, thinking: Siyou Qilong, are you serious about those two steps back?
Ignoring the side drama, Peroroncino said:
"Momonga, what kind of name are you planning to come up with?"
"Uh, if you ask me that, I haven't thought of one yet."
Just then, someone in the hall shouted:
"How about calling it the Heteromorphic Zoo?"
Who would have thought that even such a strange name would find supporters?
"The Heteromorphic Zoo? It doesn't sound too bad; it showcases our image."
"Uh, it's fine, but it sounds a bit like a group of small-fry."
Following this, a flurry of chattering discussion broke out in the hall.
"Although it's a bit bizarre, I think it's okay. It has the feel of a mob group from a manga."
"Yeah, yeah, the kind of villainous organization that only exists on a list."
"How about Shadow Gang? It has a nice villainous feel to it."
"What are these circus-like names? I don't really like them."
At this point, Yewuzi tapped the table and said bluntly.
"It would be a pity to completely discard our current group name. It would be great if we could relate it to that."
Hearing Yewuzi's words, the entire hall went quiet. Everyone agreed with her, as that name carried too many of their memories.
"Nine's Own Goal—is there any name related to that?"
Emerald Tablet pondered for a moment and said earnestly.
"How about the Knights Templar? Touch Me is like a figure such as Hugues de Payens."
No one understood who the person Emerald Tablet was talking about; perhaps it was a heroic figure from some mythological book, as only Emerald Tablet was well-versed in occultism.
Emerald Tablet continued to mutter.
"Though, Knights Templar doesn't even have the letter 'n' in it."
The Nine's Own Goal group consisted entirely of heteromorphic players. According to the rules of the otherworld, they were all destined to be final bosses. Everyone was silenced by his suggestion, and Momonga said speechlessly.
"Emerald Tablet is always saying things that are hard to understand."
"Oh, ah, I'm terribly sorry."
Just then, Takemikazuchi, who had been silent until now, wrote something in his in-game notepad. As he wrote, he said.
"Ainz? How about Ainz?"
"That sounds pretty good. Does it represent the new guild being 'placed'?"
"Although it's a bit forced, it's the best option so far. It's much better than Mu Fengyu's 'Loving Family'."
"Is Ainz spelled A-I-N-S? Or A-I-N-Z?"
"Either is fine, but I'd also like to add the remaining 'own' and 'goal'."
Just then, Bukubukuchagama stood up and said loudly:
"How about replacing the former with Ooal Gown?"
Emerald Tablet immediately shouted.
"Oh, oh, oh! This plan is perfect."
Just like that, more discussions filled the hall. Finally, Momonga clapped his hands to signal for silence.
"Then it is decided that we will combine the suggestions from Takemikazuchi and Bukubukuchagama as the new guild name. Does everyone agree?"
The people in the hall shouted in unison.
"Agreed!"
Only Mu Fengyu muttered softly:
"I still think 'Loving Family' was pretty good."
"Captain, I think you should go see a doctor."
And so, the name of the new guild, "Ainz Ooal Gown," was finalized.
With the matter of the name settled, Momonga assumed his leadership role and gave his first order as guild leader to his companions.
"The Great Tomb of Nazarick. As this is our first guild activity since our founding, I hope everyone will give it their all."
The moment Momonga finished speaking, a tense and excited atmosphere instantly permeated the hall. Nishikienrai was the first to speak.
"Guild Leader Momonga, should we first formulate a detailed strategy and action plan?"
"Correct, that is the primary task. Although Nishikienrai has already mapped out the general layout, many of us cannot enter and exit as freely as he can."
"As for the terrain, monster distribution, and potential traps on the outskirts of the Great Tomb, I will leave it to Nishikienrai, Flatfoot, and Genjiro to gather as much intelligence as possible for us."
