Mu Fengyu lay there all alone in the snow. Before long, his longtime bad friend Peroroncino arrived to mock him by name.
"Isn't this our wise, brave, and absurdly rich Mu Fengyu? What happened? We haven't seen each other for a few hours, and you've already fallen this far?"
As he spoke, he struck a strange pose. Mu Fengyu rolled his eyes and said helplessly,
"You should hurry up and carry me out of here. If we don't leave before they get out, we'll both be beaten into shrimp paste. That spell can't make them drop dead outright, either."
Peroroncino chuckled and slung him onto his back, preparing to leave. He asked curiously,
"What exactly does that super-tier spell do? Making so many people disappear at once was pretty scary."
"Oh, [Mirror Lake] is basically a large-scale crowd-control spell. It pulls everyone within a certain range into a mirrored space, where reflections appear with around sixty percent of the enemy's strength."
"It's quite useful in large-scale battles, but I'm alone—how am I supposed to fight them? Besides, after using that super-tier spell, the caster enters a period of rigidity."
"After all, this spell belongs to the [Nameless] category. Spells of this type all come with some negative effects."
"Ohhh, so that's how it is."
Peroroncino finally understood. Carrying Mu Fengyu on his back, he trudged through the snow as their voices echoed across the silent snowfield.
"That should be far enough. We can teleport out now."
Just as the two took out their teleportation scrolls, the minotaurs who had been trapped in the super-tier spell reappeared where they had been.
Their eyes were bloodshot, and they held all kinds of weapons. They had clearly gone through a battle. Watching the two prepare to teleport away, one player took out an eyeball-like item from his inventory.
He locked onto them just before they vanished. Mu Fengyu frowned when he saw the item, then thoughtfully shoved Peroroncino a little farther forward.
Peroroncino's tall body perfectly shielded Mu Fengyu, and the beam emitted by the eyeball locked onto him alone.
Just before they disappeared, Peroroncino's furious shout rang out.
"Mu Fengyu, fuck your mother!"
His voice was so loud that it could be heard throughout the snowfield, showing just how solid his friendship with Mu Fengyu was.
Everyone at the scene gathered around the minotaur holding the item. He carefully examined the eyeball to determine the pair's teleportation destination, and after comparing the results, he confirmed their location.
"Guildmaster, they teleported to the border of Niflheim. Should we keep chasing them?"
"Of course we chase them. We suffered such heavy losses this time—how can we let them off so easily?"
The leading minotaur clenched his fist furiously. His voice was full of rage and resentment, as though it could make the entire snowfield tremble.
"Share that birdman's location, and issue a bounty to the Nine-Man Suicide Subgroup."
"A mere group of twenty-something people—I'll make them understand exactly what price they'll pay for angering Storm Horn."
With his order, all of Storm Horn sprang into action. Peroroncino's location was updated in real time on the world channel, while members of the Nine-Man Suicide Subgroup appeared one after another on the bounty list. The bounties on members who were already listed also rose accordingly.
Many solo players and professional hunters began searching for them. Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim—the three continents where heteromorphic players gathered—also became lively.
However hard they searched, though, it was difficult to find the Nine-Man Suicide Subgroup's headquarters. They had long considered that, given their group's usual conduct, someone might attack their headquarters, so they had built it in a level-sixty wild monster zone.
They had also placed the entrance inside a swamp. Unless someone deliberately jumped into the swamp, the group headquarters would be extremely difficult to discover.
Elsewhere.
Mu Fengyu sat on a strangely shaped rock, his gaze drifting over the world channel as he clicked his tongue in amazement.
Those guys had really gone this far. It was beyond his expectations.
"I didn't expect you to be worth so much now. Hey, Peroroncino, how about I kill you a few times, record it, and go collect the bounty from them?"
"Honestly, your bounty is worth more than your entire self. Why not consider—"
"You bastard, are you trying to get me killed?"
Before he could finish, Peroroncino cut him off. The two immediately began wrestling, with Peroroncino pinning him down and choking his neck while Mu Fengyu flailed both hands wildly, trying to make him let go.
"Hey, let go, let go! I'm dying, I'm dying!"
"I'm probably dead anyway, so you can be buried with me."
"Wait, get up first. I'll get you something good. I guarantee you'll be able to make it back safely."
"Fine. Give it to me, then."
He instantly got up and held out one hand, waiting for Mu Fengyu's compensation. Clearly, he had been waiting for this moment.
Although Mu Fengyu was famously unreliable, and his little head was always full of strange ideas, he was one of the most dependable people when his companions were in danger.
It could be said that when there was no danger, he was the greatest danger in the team, because he always managed to cause trouble in the most unexpected places.
For example, forging items in the Emerald Tablet's alchemy room, or using bombs as fireworks during gatherings and setting them off at the happiest moment.
Although they were only minor troubles each time, his money power was simply too overwhelming, and he always apologized properly afterward. His companions both loved and hated him for it.
Mu Fengyu rummaged through his inventory for a long time before taking out a pair of boots, a piece of armor, and a pair of earrings, then handed them all to Peroroncino.
"Here. These are the Boots of Swiftness, which can increase your speed; Titan Leather Armor, which boosts your defense; and lastly, this is the divine artifact-grade item [Blessing of Aeolus]."
"I originally wanted to give it to you as a birthday present. Consider it compensation for this time. It increases your shooting range and attack power, and it can also activate invisibility for a short time. Without a high-level assassin or thief, no one will be able to detect you."
Peroroncino looked at the equipment in his hands and was about to thank him, but Mu Fengyu raised a hand to stop him. With a serious expression, he said,
"I know you want to thank me, but don't rush. I think empty words are meaningless. It'd be more practical if you just called me godfather."
"You unfilial son, always thinking about turning the tables and becoming the master. All these years, your father's love has been wasted on you."
"Heh. Unfilial son, look at the equipment in your hands. Your father will give you one more chance to choose your words."
Ring, ring, ring! The urgent ringing interrupted their battle. Mu Fengyu hurriedly backed away, keeping a safe distance from Peroroncino.
He took a teleportation scroll from his inventory and began channeling it, while Peroroncino used Flight to make his escape.
At that moment, the pursuers parted the grass and saw Mu Fengyu about to leave, along with Peroroncino, who had already begun fleeing.
Mu Fengyu took out a horn-like item from his inventory and shouted loudly,
"My son Peroroncino is peerless beneath the heavens, and he has two divine artifact-grade items in his hands! If you bunch of trash have the guts, go kill him and make them drop!"
When speaking through this item, his voice could spread across an entire continent. Clearly, Mu Fengyu had great faith in his strength.
As soon as he finished speaking, Peroroncino's voice came through Mu Fengyu's communications.
"Mu Fengyu, you bastard! Just you wait!"
