Marriage and Hidden Identity

Yuan Xiuxiu enters the Yang family as Yang Huai's bride, presenting herself as a gentle village woman despite possessing a beauty and bearing uncommon among ordinary mortals. 4 She assists the Yang household with chores and farm work while quietly observing Yang Huai's unexpected cultivation progress. 15

She discovers that Yang Huai's below-average aptitude does not match his growing qi, blood, and soul power. Her attempts to inspect him reveal innate essence cleansing his body, but an unknown radiance conceals the deepest part of his sea of consciousness. 15

At this stage, Yuan Xiuxiu is severely wounded and undergoing tribulation. Her remaining cultivation is less than a tenth of her former power, forcing her to remain concealed and limiting her ability to investigate Yang Huai's changes. 16

Yang Huai's Guide

After learning that Yang Huai has encountered visualization-based secret arts, Yuan Xiuxiu warns him that prematurely cultivating powerful spells can contaminate his foundation and endanger his future Primordial Spirit. 16 She gives him the Heavenly Circuit Spirit-Light Protective Incantation, which he immediately masters, greatly surprising her. 16 17

She continues to guide his cultivation through practical support: preparing medicinal food, discussing duel strategy, gathering herbs, and proposing that he enter the Azure Peak Sect after Foundation Establishment. 16 31 58 To improve his prospects, she obtains and sends him the Nine-Leaf Wishful Snow Jade Lingzhi despite the danger to herself. 58 72

Separation and Recognition

Yuan Xiuxiu leaves the Yang family before Yang Huai returns to relocate his relatives near the Pure Origin Sect. Removed from her disguise, she learns that Yang Huai is the Dao Child ranked twelfth on the All-Spirits Ranking and is shocked by how far he has surpassed her original expectations. 110

Rather than contacting him immediately, she decides to let him grow stronger. She believes his extraordinary talent gives him a genuine chance to attain the Dao Fruit within one lifetime. 111

Rumors later connect Yuan Xiuxiu to the Nine Heavens Spirit Maiden: a mysterious cultivator said to have swept through the thirty-six caves of fiends and evil ghosts in the Savage Borderlands. Her identity becomes a source of conflict as enemies accuse the Spirit Maiden of colluding with fiends. 179 180

Return to the Orthodox Path

Yang Huai ultimately confronts the Nine Heavens Orthodox Alliance to rescue Yuan Xiuxiu and clear her name. 198 199 After their reunion, she agrees to return to the Nine Heavens Orthodox Path, assist in ending the conflict, and bring peace to the realm. 201

She reveals her true face to Yang Huai and confirms that Yuan Xiuxiu is her genuine mortal surname and childhood name. She acknowledges that she has an identity beyond the heavens but initially declines to explain it fully. 205

Her master, Taichuzi, suffers from a severe Dao wound. Yuan Xiuxiu attempts to heal him and remains determined to resolve his condition, even when this requires further separation from Yang Huai. 205 231

Purple Palace Princess

Yuan Xiuxiu later reveals that she is a Primordial Lady of the Purple Origin Heavenly Palace and the daughter of the Purple Origin Celestial Lord. She descended to the mortal world to assist the Azure Heaven Orthodox Path through its tribulation. 251

After the Azure Heaven lineages return to the Nine Heavens Orthodox Path, she decides to ascend to the Purple Palace. She explains that remaining in the lower realm risks exposing both herself and Yang Huai to the enemies of her father. 251 252
