Background

The Profound Mystery Sect began as a subordinate branch of the Pure Origin Sect: its founding ancestor emerged from the Pure Origin Sect before establishing the later lineage. The Profound Mystery Sect's layout and customs were consequently modeled after its superior sect. 110 113

The Pure Origin Sect is an inheritance of an Emperor Lord beyond the heavens and one of the foremost powers in the Azure Talisman Realm. Two of the Nine Heavens Orthodox Alliance's three Dao Chiefs and six Divine Generals originate from the sect. 111

As one of the Three Supreme Sects, it periodically competes with the other supreme sects for the alliance leadership, two deputy Dao Chief positions, and six Divine General positions. 154

Organization

The sect has seventeen or eighteen scattered Dao lineages rather than a fixed peak-based structure. Most inheritances pass from master to disciple in individual lines, while senior cultivators pursue specialized arts such as swordsmanship, spirit-beast raising, or external alchemy. 113

After Yang Huai reaches twelfth place on the All-Spirits Ranking, Zhao Zhenwu brings him to the Pure Origin Sect for protection from heterodox cultivators and rival sects seeking to eliminate a rising Dao Child. 110 111

The sect receives Yang Huai at Longmen Mountain, where he gains access to its lineages, scriptures, senior cultivators, and cultivation resources. 113

Six Harmonies Immortal Abode

Dao Ningzi sends Yang Huai, Yue Hanxian, and Cheng Muxian into the Six Harmonies Immortal Abode, equipping them with the Sealing Spirit Talisman, Taiyin Magnetism Sphere, and Vajra Suppression Stone. The expedition is opposed by the Origin-Returning Sect. 145

Alliance competition and the Three Treasures

The sect fields Yang Huai alongside several former top-ten All-Spirits Ranking disciples in a contest for the Origin-Returning Sect's inherited treasures.
