Background / History

Kakashi is Hatake Sakumo's son and attended the Ninja Academy during Jin's early years in Konoha. He first meets Jin through Sakumo's connection, immediately doubts Jin's claim of being a genius, and dismisses his behavior as unreliable. Jin's sudden use of the Flying Thunder God at the Academy nevertheless leaves Kakashi stunned 17.

He continues to train at the Academy with Obito, Rin, Kurenai, Asuma, and Guy. During this period, he is a sharp critic of Obito's mistakes, but he also takes responsibility when the group wanders into an Anbu sparring ground, leading Rin and Kurenai through the fog while trying to keep the others safe 20 31 35 36.

After graduating, Kakashi joins Team 7 under Minato alongside Obito and Rin. He later participates in Minato's combined elite team, where Jin serves as vice-captain 58 79. During a mission against Hidden Mist shinobi, he recognizes that the opposing young elite team is stronger than his own but still coordinates Konoha's defense with Asuma 69.

By the Third Shinobi World War, Kakashi is promoted to jonin and appointed captain of the elite team. He leads his comrades against Pakura of the Hidden Sand, attempting to hold her off so the injured Kurenai and the others can retreat despite being severely outmatched 95 96 98 100.

Personality

Kakashi is blunt, sarcastic, and especially harsh toward Obito. He regularly undercuts Obito's boasts, criticizes careless behavior, and has little patience for recklessness 18 20 31. He initially judges Jin as careless and unreliable, even after witnessing his exceptional talent 17 43.

Beneath that detached demeanor, Kakashi is cautious and duty-driven. He recognizes danger quickly, gives clear orders under pressure, and places the safety of clients and comrades above his own condition 35 68 69 100.
