Background

Little Green Peak was once a prominent Mount Fangcun lineage, with more than a thousand disciples. Approximately three centuries before its reopening, its former peak master suffered qi deviation while cultivating the forbidden Seven Kills Sword Manual and massacred the peak's disciples, relatives, master, and friends. Jiang Yingxue—her full-blooded younger sister—was the sole survivor. 510

The fallen peak master later fled Mount Fangcun and established the Mortal Dust Immortal Sect alongside other Golden Core traitors. The massacre destroyed Little Green Peak's foundations, caused its mountain gate to be sealed for a century, and left its name associated with internal betrayal and disaster. 510 572

The destruction extended beyond Little Green Peak to Jade Splendor Peak, Reishi Peak, Champion Peak, Kun Jade Cave, and Spirit Lotus Peak. Jade Splendor Peak, previously a close ally, suffered losses second only to Little Green Peak; its peak master was killed and the corpse displayed at its entrance. These attacks left enduring grudges among Mount Fangcun's lineages. 532

Jiang Yingxue attained the Great Dao Golden Core Realm, restored Little Green Peak to Mount Fangcun's jade register, and reopened the mountain for disciples. Its reputation, however, continued to deter talented recruits and invite hostility from other lineages. 510 511

Jiang Yingxue later defected to the Mortal Dust Immortal Sect, making her the second successive peak master to leave Mount Fangcun. Sect Master Nong Mu rejected proposals to dissolve or merge the peak; Qi Ling was elected peak master, with Nie Qingzhu returning as acting deputy. The peak had fallen quiet in the years following Jiang Yingxue's departure, but rumors that its former disciple Zhou Jing was alive brought it renewed attention. 781

Qi Ling's election was a joint decision by the peak's disciples, made three months before the gathering concerning Zhou Jing's survival.
