After leaving Cuifali Port, the Iron Fleet sailed northward. The drop in temperature was plainly noticeable, and large sheets of floating ice drifted past them from time to time.
To endure the extreme climate of arctic Northrend, every warship in the Iron Fleet had been fitted with icebreakers.
After half a month at sea, the members of the Blackrock Clan expedition had changed into thick winter clothing, wearing it beneath their armor to keep warm.
At the same time, Rend had prepared a large supply of charcoal. Noxus had fairly abundant vegetation, more than enough to meet their needs for heating with charcoal.
Since Kalimdor lay on the western continent, the first region of Northrend discovered by the Iron Fleet was the Borean Tundra. However, it was not where the Blackrock expedition should land, so they sailed eastward around Northrend's continental mass.
Borean Tundra—Dragonblight—Grizzly Hills—and finally, Howling Fjord.
Along the way, the Iron Fleet encountered vessels belonging to the tuskarr, a native race stubbornly surviving in Northrend. Worth mentioning was that their ships were pulled by enormous sea turtles.
When they passed through Dragonblight, Rend had Ariok remain at the tuskarr's Mo'aki Harbor to win them over. At the very least, they could not be allowed to side with the Alliance.
Worth mentioning was that Howling Fjord's terrain was extremely similar to Stormheim's. Both were surrounded by sea on three sides, and Howling Fjord had two locations suitable for establishing a large port camp. One was Spear Island, where the tuskarr city of Kamagua was located; the other was the Vrykul's Utgarde Keep at the center of Stormheim.
Rend did not want to seize the land of those tenaciously surviving tuskarr. The Vrykul should have already awakened by now, which meant Utgarde Keep would not be easy to take either.
