In Thunder Bluff, Mulgore, some time had passed since Anok Grimtotem became the Tauren High Chieftain. During that time, he had largely taken control of Tauren authority and formed the Dragonhorn Legion from the combined forces of the Mulgore Tauren, Taunka, and Highmountain Tauren. (A tribute to strength and glory.)
The Tauren had previously been a nomadic people. Their forces had been organized by clan, and they had no proper standing legions. Even the Bloodhoof Guard had merely been the private army of the Bloodhoof Clan.
The Dragonhorn Legion was the Tauren's first properly organized legion. Anok Grimtotem recruited soldiers from all three Tauren peoples, using repaying the Horde's kindness as the reason for enlistment, and received an enormous response.
The elderly Tauren leaders and high-ranking figures were mostly doves, wanting only to enjoy peace in Mulgore. But the younger Tauren were filled with gratitude toward the Horde, and they were more passionate and stronger.
A full two hundred thousand young and able Tauren answered the call to enlist, as the combined population of the three Tauren peoples now exceeded one million.
The Dragonhorn Legion belonged solely to Tauren High Chieftain Anok Grimtotem. Anok Grimtotem was determined to forge the Dragonhorn Legion into one like the Trifarix Legion.
Rend naturally supported his little brother. He therefore transferred all Tauren veterans from the Trifarix Legion to Anok Grimtotem, allowing him to use those veterans as the backbone of the Dragonhorn Legion.
Large quantities of weapon sets were transported from the Immortal Bastion in Noxus to Thunder Bluff, rapidly turning the Dragonhorn Legion into a force centered on heavy infantry.
At Rend's suggestion, Anok Grimtotem chose to promote Baine Bloodhoof. Using the Bloodhoof Clan and the Runetotem Clan as his foundation, Baine would expand the Bloodhoof Guard into the Bloodhoof Legion.
