Setting out from Wyrmrest Temple, they crossed the Frozen Sea in the northern Great Sea and finally arrived above the Maelstrom.
By then, Guardian Med'an had largely torn away the Elementium Armor welded onto Deathwing the Destroyer's spine, and he left Deathwing the Destroyer's back.
At that moment, Thrall, the Great Shaman who would save the world, gripped the recharged golden Dragon Soul and launched the final attack on Deathwing the Destroyer.
Golden energy took the form of the Heart of the Dragon Aspects. This golden dragon, which had never appeared on Azeroth before, pierced through Deathwing the Destroyer's spine, destroying his heart and source of energy.
Though Deathwing the Destroyer had become immortal and indestructible, he was crushed by the golden dragon of the Heart of the Dragon Aspects. He fell from the sky and plunged straight into the Maelstrom at the center of the Great Sea, formed by the explosion of the Well of Eternity.
This strike, which gathered the power of the Dragon Aspects, was even more powerful than the one that had once fought Kil'jaeden the Deceiver. Moreover, the power of the Heart of the Dragon Aspects happened to counter Deathwing the Destroyer.
When Deathwing the Destroyer fell into the Maelstrom, most believed they had won, except Nozdormu the Eternal One.
The Maelstrom began turning blood-red, as though something horrifying was about to emerge from within.
"You have accomplished nothing! I will tear your world apart!" A massive, hideous claw stretched out from the Maelstrom and seized a floating island nearby.
