After Dalaran was brought down during the Nexus War, neither the Blue Dragonflight nor the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas had pursued them to the bitter end. As a result, many Dalaran Kirin Tor mages fled.
These Dalaran Kirin Tor mages were no fools. They naturally understood that only by obtaining protection could they continue using magic rather than becoming useless weaklings.
