Prophet Velen's self-sacrifice left the Draenei troops who witnessed it with tears in their eyes as they attacked their counterparts from the parallel universe.
At that moment, the Draenei troops who had followed Prophet Velen through the Dark Portal were more resolute than ever. Though they stood within the Light Dissolution Field, the Light within them surged even more fiercely, as if the field had no effect on them at all.
This was because the Light Dissolution Field created by Prophet Velen's body targeted the Naaru and the Light they bestowed. The Light now erupting from these Draenei was born from their souls and spiritual strength.
Meanwhile, the Lightforged were like Orcs suffering a backlash from demon blood, falling into weakness and confusion. Most critically, their spirits and faith had collapsed. They could not understand why the Light granted to them by the Naaru was fading, and fear took hold of them.
Precisely because of this, although the Draenei forces were far fewer in number than the Lightbound, they were able to hold Light's Gate while continuing to advance.
