What Is Voodoo?

As a troll—and now the king of all trolls under the Zul Empire, with ambitions of becoming the god-king of all trolls—Tonatiuh was woefully unqualified when it came to troll customs and knowledge.

To say nothing else, when it came to voodoo—the most important discipline besides Loa worship, found throughout every major troll tribe and clan—his understanding was probably inferior to that of any seasoned chieftain from some tiny tribe.

The main reason was that the system was simply too capable at assisting with the management of Loa worship. Combined with his own strength, it had caused him to completely overlook one of the two pillars that had once allowed trolls to survive on Azeroth.

Of the two pillars of troll survival, one was the vital faith in the Loa. The other was naturally the path of voodoo, which spread throughout troll tribes and clans.

Unlike other powers that possessed complete systems and inheritances, even the foremost practitioners of voodoo had a muddled understanding of it.

Take shamanism, for example. Long before the Orcs arrived, many primitive tribes already had similar professions and the ability to pass them down intact. It was a system where teachers taught, students studied hard, and mastery could be attained.

Not to mention the more complete systems of druidism, Loa worship, Holy Light worship, and faith in all manner of powerful higher beings.

Only voodoo, Azeroth's most primitive and earliest native mystical power, had remained beyond the trolls' ability to fully systematize even after countless years of development.

Again, take shamans as an example.

As long as a shaman apprentice had some talent, a good teacher and diligent study could eventually turn them into a capable shaman.
