Background / History
Dai Family rule
Under the Dai Family, the Star Luo Imperial Family wielded absolute authority, while succession followed brutal internal competition between princes. The White Tiger Martial Soul served as the dynasty's defining bloodline and later became central to disputes over the throne's legitimacy 215 288 457.
The Zhu Clan held exceptional political status because its Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul could form the Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill with the imperial White Tiger Martial Soul. The two families had intermarried for generations, and the Zhu Clan held influence in both military and political affairs 288 497.
Dai Weisi's rise intensified the imperial succession conflict. He and Zhu Zhuyun viewed Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing's growth as a direct threat and intended to eliminate them 215. The imperial court also began excluding the Zhu Clan, prompting the Nether Duke to reassess his support for Dai Weisi 288.
Imperial collapse and loss of territory
The Star Luo Emperor was poisoned and left near death by the individual posing as Dai Weisi. Dai Mubai and the Nether Duke then moved quickly to take control of the empire, but Dai Mubai prioritized hunting the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger over stabilizing the state 339.
The emperor later died after his life essence was drained. At the same time, evidence alleging the Dai Family's collusion with Fallen Soul Masters became public, destroying the imperial family's credibility and triggering unrest, rebellions, and military dissent 344 345 367.
Spirit Hall exploited the crisis to seize extensive Star Luo territory and establish the Spirit Hall Empire, while the Heaven Dou Empire also occupied part of Star Luo land. By this period, the empire had lost nearly half its territory to Spirit Hall and no longer possessed the military strength expected of an empire 345 356 373.
Xu Family restoration
Ancient sects, led by the Star Crown Sect, intervened to prevent the empire from being fully absorbed by Spirit Hall. The Xu Family of the Star Crown Sect became the new royal family, replacing the Dai Family 366 448.
During the beast tide threatening Spirit City, the new Star Luo Emperor allied with the Clear Sky Sect, Thunder God Sect, and surviving Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect disciples. Their combined offensive reclaimed multiple cities from the Spirit Hall Empire, aided by the support of civilians in those formerly Star Luo-held territories 448 457.
Dai Mubai's challenge and the White Tiger Kingdom
Dai Mubai later revealed himself at Zolls City as the surviving legitimate heir of the Dai Family. By displaying his pure White Tiger Martial Soul, he challenged the Xu Family's right to rule and split the Star Luo army: forty percent backed him, while sixty percent remained loyal to the reigning emperor 457 458.
Spirit Hall granted Dai Mubai ten cities and recognized the White Tiger Kingdom as a vassal state. Many former Star Luo officials defected to him because they regarded the Dai bloodline as the empire's legitimate inheritance 466 473.
The White Tiger Kingdom and the Seven Great Sects subsequently invaded the Star Luo Empire. Their Soul Master legions overwhelmed conventional troops and seized more than one-third of Star Luo territory before Thunder God Sect intervention slowed the offensive 500 503 505.
Thunder Nether intervention and fall
Facing pressure from the White Tiger Kingdom, the Star Luo Emperor demanded that the Nether Duke surrender his military and political authority. Tie Li offered the Zhu Clan a third option: surrender its authority in exchange for Thunder God Sect protection and control of White Flame City 497 498.
The Star Luo court ceded White Flame City and surrounding territory to establish the Thunder Nether Principality, later accepting the Nether Duke as its ruler. Although it remained nominally within Star Luo territory, the principality became an independent military center backed by the Thunder God Sect 502 505.
After the White Tiger Kingdom was destroyed, the Thunder Nether Kingdom absorbed most of its army and territory, as well as Soul Masters from the Seven Great Sects. Its power soon surpassed that of the Star Luo Empire, which became encircled and unable to resist a full-scale invasion 509 513.
Thunder Nether forces captured over eighty percent of Star Luo territory and surrounded Star Luo City. The Star Luo Emperor personally led a final counterattack, but Tie Li killed the emperor and defeated the remaining Title Douluo defenders. Most Star Luo soldiers surrendered after the city fell, ending the empire 514 515 516.
Government and Political Structure
- Imperial authority — The Dai Family's rule was characterized by centralized, absolute imperial authority 288.
- Succession system — Imperial princes competed under harsh survival rules; the stronger Dai Mubai became, the more precarious Dai Weisi's position became 215.
- Legitimacy — The Dai Family's White Tiger bloodline was widely regarded as the orthodox imperial inheritance. The Xu Family's Star Crown Sect regime faced persistent accusations of usurpation 457 458.
- Zhu Clan influence — The Zhu Clan's inherited compatibility with the White Tiger Martial Soul made the Nether Duke a crucial political and military figure under both the Dai and Xu regimes 288 373.
- Declining central control — The Xu Family distrusted the Zhu Clan's independent authority and sought to force the Nether Duke to hand over his military and political power 497 498.
Military
- The empire relied heavily on conventional soldiers and ordinary Soul Master forces, leaving it at a disadvantage against specialized Soul Master legions 392 394.
- Dai Mubai briefly gained command of more than sixty percent of the Star Luo army after the emperor's poisoning 339.
- His later claim to the throne divided the army, with forty percent defecting to his cause 458.
- Ancient sects—particularly the Star Crown Sect—provided the hidden Soul Master strength that prevented the empire's immediate destruction by Spirit Hall 366 367.
- The alliance with the Clear Sky Sect, Thunder God Sect, and Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect enabled the empire to retake cities during Spirit Hall's beast-tide crisis 448 457.
- The Star Luo military ultimately could not match the Thunder Nether Kingdom's combined conventional army, ten Soul Master legions, and Thunder God Sect backing 509 513.
