Background / History

The sect's predecessor was the Thunder God Sect, an ancient force said to have held a standing comparable to Sea God Island. After an earlier calamity nearly severed its inheritance, three surviving inner disciples eventually became Title Douluo, reclaimed its territory, and renamed it the Wind Thunder Sect. 251 271 287

As a sect with more than a thousand years of history, the Wind Thunder Sect possessed a foundation far beyond that of ordinary lightning-attribute factions. Its natural cultivation grounds, particularly the Lightning Pool, drew soul masters even after the sect itself had fallen. 121 124

Spirit Hall later purged the sect, taking nearly all of its possessions and reducing most of its buildings to ruins. Spirit Hall also placed a bounty on surviving disciples, while some former subordinate sects betrayed the fleeing remnants for rewards. 116 132

The Heaven Dou Imperial Family took control of the ruined sect grounds and traded access to them for benefits. Its surviving inheritance later became the basis for Tie Li and the emerging Thunder God Sect, which reclaimed the site and publicly identified itself as the Wind Thunder Sect's successor. 116 320 325

Legacy and Inheritances

Lightning Pool

The Lightning Pool was a natural lightning-attribute cultivation environment and one of the sect's central inheritances.

• Cultivating beside it tempered lightning-attribute martial souls. 121

Thunder Dragon Six Sounds

The Thunder Dragon Six Sounds was the sect's ultimate combat technique and a foundational inheritance. It was developed for the Dark Thunder Demon Dragon martial soul by generations of sect ancestors. 158 159

• Its six sounds could strengthen the user's body; no Wind Thunder Sect master was known to have wielded all six simultaneously. 221

The Wind God Art was the Wind Dragon Lineage's counterpart to the Thunder Dragon Six Sounds.

Organization

The sect was divided into two principal lineages:

• Thunder Dragon Lineage — associated with the Thunder Dragon Meditation Method and the Thunder Dragon Six Sounds. 158 208
• Wind Dragon Lineage — associated with the Wind God Art. 158 208

Core disciples were selected and cultivated as potential successor disciples. A Nuo and Feng Yu, for example, were core disciples whose talent was considered sufficient for succession, though they had not yet learned the sect's complete supreme arts. 208

Seventeen known disciples ultimately survived the destruction: seven from the Wind Dragon Lineage and ten from the Thunder Dragon Lineage. Four of the Thunder Dragon survivors had obtained Thunderstone Marks. 335
