Fourth Li lived beside Zhang Elder in Black Mud City’s Mud Alley. Once known as a timid firewood seller who silently endured guards’ abuse, he initially panicked after witnessing Zhang Elder conceal a guard’s corpse; nevertheless, he did not expose him and bit his own tongue to force himself past his fear. 24

He later helped Zhang Elder conceal the dead guard but feared the Immortal City’s Spirit-Seeking Compasses and urged them to flee Black Mud City. 32 As the city’s formation crisis escalated, he concealed himself among a labor crew in stolen black-iron armor, studying the lead formation master with the practiced eye of a butcher and preparing Qi-Severing Powder for an assassination attempt. 43

Escape and Awakening

When the formation core descended into chaos, Fourth Li rescued the injured Zhang Elder and used fire and an underground drainage river to cover their escape. 47 After dragging Zhang Elder from the Yin River to a mass burial ground, Desolate Blood entered Fourth Li’s body and reshaped his heart into the rudimentary Ultimate Blood Furnace. 49

Armed with his butcher’s knife, he began hunting the guards and commanders responsible for brutalizing Mud Alley’s mortals. He survived a true-essence spear thrust to the heart, overpowered Commander Zhang and his guards, and killed them in retaliation for their abuses. 53

Leader of the Mine Slaves

Fourth Li gathered freed mine slaves and led more than a hundred people out of Black Mud City toward the Great Desolation. 60 Witnessing Lu Chen defy heavenly lightning strengthened his resolve; he and the mine slaves knelt toward Spirit-Severing Valley before continuing into the wilderness. 59

While his group was trapped by crocodiles, Fourth Li resonated with Lu Chen’s blood qi across a vast distance, gaining enough strength to defeat the beasts. 66 He later met Lu Chen directly, sharpened an iron spear against an immortal flying sword, and accepted Lu Chen’s rejection of immortal authority. 70

Fourth Li remained with Lu Chen’s group long enough to guard him during a dangerous circulation of qi and blood, organizing the mine slaves against a tide of poisonous insects. 73 74 After being strengthened through Lu Chen’s blood medicine, he accepted Lu Chen’s order to lead the survivors westward to an ancestral body-cultivator burial ground. 77 78

Western Wasteland

In the Western Wasteland, Fourth Li led the survivors through swamps, acid rain, Desolate Blood backlash, and vicious beasts. He killed the Crocodile King through brute force and butcher’s instincts, while his men slaughtered the remaining crocodiles and made armor from their hides. 86 87

After three days crossing a lifeless fog wasteland, Fourth Li discovered an ancient battlefield filled with body-cultivator bones. He pulled an archaic broken war spear from its stone seal, entered Desolate Iron, First Layer, and established his men as an extreme-path legion. 90 By Chapter 96, he was still leading sixty blood disciples while they faced Bone-Wolf Hyena Beasts in a quicksand pit. 96

His transformation does not make him reckless. He retains a butcher’s patience, calculating vulnerable points in an enemy’s body and using poison or ambush when direct force is not enough. 43 46 Once awakened, however, he becomes fiercely vengeful toward cultivator lackeys and guards who prey on mortals. 53

As a leader, Fourth Li is harsh but protective.
