Environment and Natural Laws
| Feature | Documented effects |
|---|---|
| Spirit-severing terrain | Ambient heaven-and-earth spiritual energy is absent or severely suppressed. Talismans and other immortal arts can fail before activating, leaving cultivators reliant on ordinary physical ability. 79 93 |
| Rejection of immortal laws | The wilderness inherently rejects spiritual energy and immortal laws; its corrosive acid rain also damages an ancestor’s projected remnant soul. 89 93 |
| Poison and miasma | Its forests contain dense poison fog, toxic rain, venomous flora, corrosive mud, sulfurous caverns, and lethal black pools. 68 69 71 82 91 |
| Demon-beast habitat | Netherwind Wolves, poison boars, venomous centipedes, bone-wolf hyenas, sand lizards, and other beasts inhabit its regions. Some demon beasts lose their demon arts and intelligence when spiritual conditions become unstable. 11 56 73 91 96 107 |
| Artificial spiritual domains | The Azure Firmament Sword Sect can temporarily counter the spirit-severing environment by burning spirit stones in a Spirit-Gathering Grand Formation, creating a spiritual-energy domain roughly one hundred zhang across. 79 |
Geography
- Immortal-Breaking Mountain — A miasma-filled mountain range whose outer reaches are forbidden to mortals; Netherwind Wolves prowl its forested outskirts. 11
- Great Wilderness Poison Zone / Wilds Abyss — A silent, poison-fog-shrouded forest entered by Lu Chen while fleeing the Azure Firmament Sword Sect. 68 69
- A Thread of Sky Gorge — A narrow approach into the wilderness interior. Lu Chen seals its passage with a black stele before confronting the sect’s vanguard. 78 79
- Red-Miasma Forest — A corrosive region where black rain falls and first-rank peak Iron-Spined Poison Boars roam. 91
- Poisonwater River — A deadly outer-wilderness riverbank and the site of the Blood-Severing Iron Net blockade. 98
- Western Wasteland — A distant forbidden expanse of foggy Gobi, deadlands, swamps, and ancient ruins inhabited by Great Wilderness remnants. 90 103 140
- Beast-Extermination Great Plain — A waterless plain of blade-like weathered rock and lingering blood stench, where ancestral corpse monsters emerge during a Blood-Baleful Storm. 103
Ancient Legacy
Ancient body cultivators once left behind battle-body traditions, burial grounds, bloodlines, and artifacts across the Great Wilderness. The Heaven-Suppressing Wilderness-Bone Primal Ferocious Stele displays reliefs of twelve primordial Great Wilderness battle bodies, while Fourth Li’s followers discover the remains of enormous ancient body cultivators in the Western Wasteland. 90 96
According to the one-eyed elder, immortal sects planted Severing Source and Cutting Veins Swords at major earth-vein nodes during the ancient war, intending to sever the foundation of Great Wilderness body cultivation for more than ten thousand years. He likewise identifies the ancestor corpse monsters of the Beast-Extermination Great Plain as victims of an ancient water cutoff by immortal clans. 103 119
The Great Wilderness Bone-Sacrifice Furnace is another surviving inheritance. It endured heavenly lightning in the ancient conflict and can burn away old flesh, restore blood energy, and temper users into iron-gray-skinned warriors. 107
Inhabitants
- Desolate Scions and wasteland survivors — Oppressed descendants who respond to the scent of ancestral blood and the reawakening of the Ultimate Dao’s ancestral fire. 120
- Ultimate Blood Army / blood disciples — Former mine slaves led by Fourth Li. They endure the Western Wasteland’s trials, inherit ancient bloodline power, and become an extreme-path fighting force. 87 90 119
- Great Wilderness tribes — At least eighty-three tribes exist in the Western Wasteland. Their chiefs receive banner-bearer roles after Fourth Li calls them to honor blood rather than immortals. 125
- Degenerated natives — Diseased inhabitants encountered around an ancient temple; their leader states that poisoned water caused their degeneration. 99
- Demon beasts — The wilderness sustains numerous predatory and poisonous species, often making passage as dangerous as conflict with cultivators. 11 56 73 107
Revival of the Ultimate Path
Fourth Li’s expedition through the Western Wasteland uncovers the ancient body-cultivator burial ground, where he retrieves the Ten-Thousand-Year Ancient Broken Spear and advances to Desolate Iron, First Layer. The accompanying men receive battle-body patterns that establish them as an extreme-path legion. 90
After breaking an immortal sword seal, Fourth Li and his wounded followers enter an Ancient Blood Spirit Spring. Their damaged bodies are violently repaired with demon limbs, scales, bone matter, and renewed bloodline power; the resulting blood pillar awakens Desolate Scions across the Great Wilderness. 119 120
Following the destruction of an Immortal Alliance White Bone Spirit Ship, Fourth Li directs the tribes to rally the remaining eighty-three clans. He later establishes an alliance of mutual attack and defense, forbidding tribes from seeking death alone or abandoning their allies. 125 140
