Background

Shao Nan was originally a Naruto fan before transmigrating into the ninja world. He learned that he possessed Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki bloodlines and was descended from Hashirama Senju. His great-grandmother entrusted him with returning to Konoha, restoring the Senju clan, and placing her ashes on Hashirama’s Hokage Rock. 1 18

After arriving in Konoha, Shao Nan sought out Tsunade, demonstrated Senju Monster Strength against debt collectors, and persuaded her to help establish his connection to the Senju clan. He later adopted Chino, who began calling him her father. 2 3 11

Tsunade ultimately recognizes Shao Nan as her husband and the Senju clan’s head. His public survival of a fatal wound and his Wood Release establish him as a major force within Konoha, drawing the attention of figures such as Danzō, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the Hyūga clan. 13 14

Appearance

Shao Nan closely resembles Hashirama Senju, a likeness immediately recognized by Tsunade, Itachi, and Kisame. His eyes change dramatically with the activation of his dōjutsu, progressing from scarlet Sharingan to golden Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and Eight-Tomoe Rinnegan. 2 35 66 94

  • Resembles Hashirama Senju strongly enough to be mistaken for the First Hokage. 2 66
  • Wears a white casual outfit beneath a green jacket marked with the character “Gamble.” 25
  • Displays a scarlet three-tomoe Sharingan before later evolving it into Mangekyō and Eternal Mangekyō forms. 35 69

Personality

Shao Nan is intensely ambitious and repeatedly declares his intention to unite the ninja world and establish lasting peace. The Great Toad Sage identifies this future as a revolution that will reshape the world. 18 29

He is direct, confident, and often dismissive of established authority. He recruits powerful people through leverage or displays of force, including Orochimaru and Maruboshi Kosuke, while openly challenging Konoha’s political order. 32 113

Despite his ruthlessness toward threats, Shao Nan is strongly protective of people he considers family or followers. He rescues Karin from Kusagakure, saves Hanabi from Kumogakure, protects the sealed Uchiha civilians, and shields Rōran’s population during his battle with Deva Path Pain. 25 36 94 190

His confidence can become overconfidence. He underestimates Itachi Uchiha during their conversation and is sealed by the Totsuka Blade despite activating his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. 68 69
