Background / History

Minato was Jiraiya's student and already a renowned Konoha jōnin when Toru first encountered him near Kushina's barrier. Toru's Six Eyes judged Minato stronger than both Yuhi Shinku and Uchiha Fugaku. 16 17

While developing a seal-less technique at Training Ground 3, Minato struggled to control it under Jiraiya's guidance. He later used its space-time function to retrieve popsicles, gave it the unwieldy name Light Wheel Popsicle Inspired Swirl Hair Jiraiya Dual-Style Maru, and revealed that he had developed it to protect Kushina from tailed beasts and enemy jinchūriki. 17 18

When the Nine-Tails first broke Kushina's seal, Minato reinforced her Four-Symbols Seal despite his injuries and entered her spiritual world to confront the beast. After recovering, he thanked Toru and Kurenai for helping him and taught them the Rasengan. 19

During the Third Shinobi World War, Minato was assigned as Toru's superior on Konoha's northeastern border. His reputation as the Yellow Flash came from his Flying Thunder God Technique and his earlier success in forcing back Kumogakure's A-B Combo alone. 74 78
