Background / History
During the Battle of New York, Loki fights Iron Man and is soon surrounded by the Avengers. He initially dismisses the newly arrived Uchiha Yi as an ordinary human, unaware of Yi's strength. 128 129
When Uchiha Yi removes the Mind Stone from Loki's scepter, Loki recognizes it as another Infinity Stone and regrets never discovering its existence. As the Avengers focus on the alien portal, Loki uses a prepared contingency to escape with the Space Stone. 130
Loki is revealed to be working for Thanos, who seeks the Infinity Stones. He considers the Space Stone essential to his survival and becomes determined to recover the Mind Stone from Uchiha Yi. 131 146 147
After Uchiha Yi's home is searched, Yi detects residual Space Stone energy and concludes that Loki had been searching for the Mind Stone. Loki then raids the London Sanctum in an unsuccessful attempt to obtain the Time Stone. 143 145 148
Uchiha Yi confronts Loki after being transported to his location by Miro Lali. Yi immobilizes the Tesseract with one hand, but Loki resists with the Space Stone and ultimately deceives Yi: he recalls the Tesseract into his hand and escapes through a spatial rift. 145 146 147
Later, worldwide wormholes bear residual Space Stone energy. The Avengers identify Loki as the most likely source, though his direct involvement remains unconfirmed. 152 153
Personality
Loki is arrogant and dismissive of opponents he perceives as human or weak. He initially believes Uchiha Yi is an ordinary man and only becomes cautious after Yi physically restrains the Tesseract. 129 145
He is highly deceptive and opportunistic. Loki exploits distractions during the Battle of New York, prepares an escape contingency for the Space Stone, and later tricks Uchiha Yi into releasing the Tesseract long enough for him to flee. 130 147
Despite his defiance, Loki is deeply fearful of losing the Space Stone. He refuses to explain the full reason for this fear, insisting that surrendering it would mean his death. 146 147
Abilities & Skills
Space Stone Manipulation
Loki channels the Space Stone through his staff, using its power offensively and for spatial movement.
- Fires powerful blue energy blasts capable of forcing Uchiha Yi back and putting pressure on his shield. 146
- Opens spatial passages and rifts, enabling rapid escapes and travel between worlds. 130 147
- Leaves detectable residual energy in wormholes and other locations he has visited. 143 152
- Cannot freely use the Tesseract when Uchiha Yi physically pins it in place. 145
Deception and Escape Tactics
Loki relies on planning and misdirection when direct force fails.
- Arranges for the Space Stone to disappear during the confusion surrounding the destroyed alien portal, allowing him to escape the Avengers. 130
- Conceals the true urgency of his need for the Space Stone, refusing to reveal who threatens him. 146 147
- Recalls the Tesseract to his hand at the decisive moment and escapes before Uchiha Yi can seize it. 147
Divine Physique
Loki is regarded as a god and possesses a divine body, though Uchiha Yi considers his physical strength inferior to Thor's. 145 146
- Endures spatial turbulence while confronting Uchiha Yi outside stable space. 147
- Is unable to overcome Uchiha Yi's Extreme Path Body through physical force alone. 145 146
